The office staff is very courteous. The medical assistant that does your vitals, drug test, etc as well as takes you back to the room to see the doctor is always nice and well mannered. My doctor always listens to me and any problems that may be going on in my life at the time and she always expresses concern for whatever I may be talking to her about. I am completely satisfied with this place and the level of care I have always been given. I’m not going to disclose my doctors name but I do recommend Hopewell Place to anyone that is interested in receiving care for their mental health. They don’t treat you like less of a person because of your “situation” they are respectful and professional. Honestly, if more treatment centers would follow the lead of this one. I probably would have gotten help 10 years ago. If you are 110 percent serious about getting help. And you choose to go the maintenance route. This is the place! I never would have made it if the staff wasn’t as supportive as they are. So thank you to everyone there! They listened to me when absolutely no body else would! They didn’t judge me when absolutely everyone else did! they were kind to me, when no one else was! And they had faith in me, when even I had no faith in myself! Its giving me back my life adulting..Not enough privacy and too much freedom in my early recovery didn't work well with me in my past.. I am blessed to live here along side many other recovering addicts.. I have also been blessed to see the parking lots fill up with cars and friends move back to their home towns or new apartments.. It’s changed a lot over the years, but now in 2026 I come to Prestera Health Services for therapy and now they’re like, “hey, want a primary care provider too?” At this point I’m convinced they’re trying to fix all of me and honestly… I respect the ambition 😂 The therapists are amazing though. They’ll sit there all calm while I’m explaining my life like it’s a dramatic series, and then hit me with one question that has me rethinking everything on the drive home like, “well… that was personal.” And now with PCP services?? So I can talk about my feelings and get my blood pressure checked in the same place? Efficient. Convenient. Slightly suspicious how well they understand my needs. Staff is super kind, super patient, and somehow still nice even when I say things like “I think I’m fine now” after one good day. 10/10 would recommend. I know, I was one accept everyone was done listening by the time i went. The complaints from Alumni,,, Everything changes and at 2:30 a.m., they are asleep, leave them alone. The building isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's not the Hampton. It's a starting point for Recovery. It's a place if personal discovery, acceptance and overcoming our self-induced crises with like minded people, staffed by those who did it already. It's not for everyone, but it could be, if you want it. There will never be a perfect rehab. It's addiction treatment. The help is there, again, if you want it and will get up everyday and get it. Joe M 2 weeks ago I absolutely love this place! Everyone there genuinely cares about the patients. Dr. Miller is amazing—he doesn’t make you feel like just a number or a paycheck. He truly takes the time to listen and makes you feel heard, even when he’s very busy and has a full schedule. A lot of doctors’ offices can make you feel judged or uncomfortable, but not here. No one judges you, and the entire staff is kind and welcoming. The front desk ladies are awesome, and the therapists are incredible. They make you feel comfortable, like you’re talking to a friend instead of being in a clinical setting. I’ve been through a lot of therapists before, and either they didn’t engage much or we just didn’t click—but that’s not the case here. Gina and Maryellen are both amazing and truly understand what you’re going through. Larry runs great group sessions as well. Honestly, everyone there—even down to the staff handling screenings—is friendly and respectful. It really feels like a team effort, and they all work together to make the place run smoothly. Her name started with an N I think, I wish I could remember. I did like April, although some people thought she was mean. I liked the toughness of her. A little discipline can go a long way for troubled youth lol. I actually did like the school part of the day. Instead of tablets, I liked to read. I still want to finish Narnia (thank you alex you’re cool) !! I doubt anyone who sees this will remember me, and i’m not writing this for that reason anyways. I’m writing it just to close that chapter in my life. Not to be overly graphic or to dump my trauma onto google for the whole world to see, but I did go in on attempted suicide. I don’t believe that being at River Park made me any happier. In a way, it brought me closer to my life outside of the hospital. It’s like being slapped in the face with reality. When I woke up at Cabell hospital and realized where I was off to next (RPH 3E lol) I sobbed!! No phone, no piercings, no cute clothes?? How can a teen survive?!? But I did. I’m glad I did. Some of my fellow patients would call me an angel, or “memaw.” (IFYKYK) Well, I’m not an angel! I’m a 17 year old girl who was struggling really badly. I thought that maybe if I treated the patients younger than me with respect and kindness, that they maybe weren’t used to, that I could change their lives even a little bit. Onto my actual stay there, lol, I know I talk a lot! But again, this is more for me than you!! Sorry not sorry. I once asked for a staff to talk to, I was crying and missed my family a whole lot, and no one came to talk to me. That’s a major issue!!! That was my biggest complaint! And once when my family came to visit, they started around 15 minutes late. Those are my only real issues, you know? I don't see River Park as the place to come to fix all your issues, but it definitely is a start! It was great for me to be away from the toxicity of social media. I wish the place was way more energetic, way happier. I wish the staff would do a little group stretch! I led those when I was there. That was fun. More art!! Maybe even theatre related stuff? Idk i’m a nerd. So anyways, don’t think you’re sending your kid to River Park and they’re gonna come back squeaky clean. They won’t. They’re gonna smell bad, they’re gonna be sad, hurt, angry, happy, ALL the things and emotions. Just understand that your kid was in a mental facility. It’s gonna take some time to get back what was once there, or to find something that maybe never was. Just be KIND. Be understanding. Same with the staff. Imagine how scared you’d be at 11-17 in that situation. When I attempted, I didn’t think i’d ever be sitting playing Jinga with random 14 year olds. None of us ever thought we’d be in that situation. Take it easy on your patients, on your kids. Okay, okay, i’ll stop yapping now !! (if a staff is reading this who ever met me, you know how I talk lol) I’d like to thank River Park for giving me a chance to get away from my phone, to get a reset. I’d also like to thank Cabell Hospital for saving my life. I hope the next time I see someone from RPH 3E, it’s at a Walmart or something!! Or at church. Jesus loves you, I love you!!! Session after session we kept circling the same patterns—how I process information, how I experience relationships, why certain environments overwhelm me while others feel manageable—and slowly the pieces started locking into place. What had always felt like personal failure or random emotional chaos began to look like a coherent neurotype. It was during this work that the possibility of high-functioning autism came into focus. That realization was not dramatic or sudden; it was the quiet relief of finally having language that fit. I had spent most of my life feeling slightly alien in rooms full of people who seemed to navigate social cues, unspoken expectations, and emotional reciprocity with ease. I could mask well enough to get by, but the effort was constant and the cost was high. Talking through those experiences with Tabby helped me stop treating my own mind as broken and start treating it as different. She helped me name the sensory and social differences that had been there all along, and she helped me see that the difficulty I had relating to others was not a character flaw. That shift alone has been life-altering. The work has not been about “fixing” me. It has been about understanding. I have learned practical ways to manage the intensity of everyday life, to recognize when I am approaching overload, and to give myself permission to step back instead of forcing myself through situations that leave me depleted. I am still learning—self-discovery does not arrive fully formed in a handful of sessions—but the foundation feels solid for the first time. The puzzles that used to feel scattered and contradictory now form a picture I can work with. Tabby’s approach is steady, thoughtful, and free of judgment. She does not talk down to clients or hide behind jargon. She meets you where you are and stays with you while the understanding develops at its own pace. That combination of clinical skill and genuine human presence is rare, and it made the difference between another series of appointments that went nowhere and a process that actually clarified years of confusion. If you are someone who has always felt a step out of sync with the world, who carries PTSD or ADHD or both and still senses there is more to the story, I cannot recommend Tabby highly enough. The work is not always easy, but it has been honest, respectful, and genuinely useful. I am grateful I found her when I did. Im pretty sure her name is KAYLEE RITCHIE in the E.R. She wasnt just a great nurse she was a good person!! Made sure ya medicine was ok,but most of all she made sure you was ok. A;ways asking if you need anything or if you was hungry,can i get you anything,,she could hold a conversation and make you feel better without medicine. She ask were did i park? I said in the street and she got worried they would tow my truck.
