I’ve been a patient of Hopewell for about 5 years now. The office staff is very courteous. The medical assistant that does your vitals, drug test, etc as well as takes you back to the room to see the doctor is always nice and well mannered. My doctor always listens to me and any problems that may be going on in my life at the time and she always expresses concern for whatever I may be talking to her about. I am completely satisfied with this place and the level of care I have always been given. I’m not going to disclose my doctors name but I do recommend Hopewell Place to anyone that is interested in receiving care for their mental health.

SROs truly gave me a safe friendly environment to grow in my recovery.. it's a drug free environment with friendly management and staff.. that holds me accountable with random drug screens which Im happy to take. Its giving me back my life adulting..Not enough privacy and too much freedom in my early recovery didn't work well with me in my past.. I am blessed to live here along side many other recovering addicts.. I have also been blessed to see the parking lots fill up with cars and friends move back to their home towns or new apartments.. The opportunity to heal here gives me hope to continue on my recovery journey. We do recover!

These people saved me! From the doctors, nurses, and counselors. To even the office manager and receptionist. These people really care! They don’t treat you like less of a person because of your “situation” they are respectful and professional. Honestly, if more treatment centers would follow the lead of this one. I probably would have gotten help 10 years ago. If you are 110 percent serious about getting help. And you choose to go the maintenance route. This is the place! I never would have made it if the staff wasn’t as supportive as they are. So thank you to everyone there! They listened to me when absolutely no body else would! They didn’t judge me when absolutely everyone else did! they were kind to me, when no one else was! And they had faith in me, when even I had no faith in myself! I read through the reviews, and I can assure you. Do not base your opinion of this place by the bad ones. If you are truly ready to make a change in your life. I promise, these folks will help you with being successful!

Best Drs. and nurses!!! My husband had a motorcycle accident yesterday and they had him in the back in seconds. They were prepared and were all taking his blood, had him hooked up to record his vitals and a ekg with mins. Then within no time at all took him to get a ct scan. They were on top of everything! They were all professional and so nice. We have never been treated that good at any other hospital. Also, to add, the hospital was very clean. I just know if something happens to me or my family. The complaints about the program from family could potentially be from their master manipulator residents who are looking for a way to justify leaving. I know, I was one accept everyone was done listening by the time i went. The complaints from Alumni,,, Everything changes and at 2:30 a.m., they are asleep, leave them alone. The building isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's not the Hampton. It's a starting point for Recovery. It's a place if personal discovery, acceptance and overcoming our self-induced crises with like minded people, staffed by those who did it already. It's not for everyone, but it could be, if you want it. There will never be a perfect rehab. It's addiction treatment. The help is there, again, if you want it and will get up everyday and get it.

I’ve been going here for a little over 2 years I’m pretty sure I’ve been seeing McDaniels for 4. In the beginning of us going here my husband struggled with sobriety. I always felt comfortable talking to Becky about any of my concerns when it came to him. She knew I just wanted him to be sober with me. They never gave up on him & now he’s going on 2 years sober. We both love our therapists and feel like they genuinely care about us. If you are looking for a place to help you get and stay sober please consider this one. I stayed here for a week in late October-early November. I really like some of the staff like Alex, Cheryl, Aiden, and Emily. There was another really sweet younger girl. Her name started with an N I think, I wish I could remember. I did like April, although some people thought she was mean. I liked the toughness of her. A little discipline can go a long way for troubled youth lol. I actually did like the school part of the day. Instead of tablets, I liked to read. I still want to finish Narnia (thank you alex you’re cool) !! I doubt anyone who sees this will remember me, and i’m not writing this for that reason anyways. I’m writing it just to close that chapter in my life. Not to be overly graphic or to dump my trauma onto google for the whole world to see, but I did go in on attempted suicide. I don’t believe that being at River Park made me any happier. In a way, it brought me closer to my life outside of the hospital. It’s like being slapped in the face with reality. When I woke up at Cabell hospital and realized where I was off to next (RPH 3E lol) I sobbed!! No phone, no piercings, no cute clothes?? How can a teen survive?!? But I did. I’m glad I did. Some of my fellow patients would call me an angel, or “memaw.” (IFYKYK) Well, I’m not an angel! I’m a 17 year old girl who was struggling really badly. I thought that maybe if I treated the patients younger than me with respect and kindness, that they maybe weren’t used to, that I could change their lives even a little bit. Onto my actual stay there, lol, I know I talk a lot! But again, this is more for me than you!! Sorry not sorry. I once asked for a staff to talk to, I was crying and missed my family a whole lot, and no one came to talk to me. That’s a major issue!!! That was my biggest complaint! And once when my family came to visit, they started around 15 minutes late. Those are my only real issues, you know? I don't see River Park as the place to come to fix all your issues, but it definitely is a start! It was great for me to be away from the toxicity of social media. I wish the place was way more energetic, way happier. I wish the staff would do a little group stretch! I led those when I was there. That was fun. More art!! Maybe even theatre related stuff? Idk i’m a nerd. So anyways, don’t think you’re sending your kid to River Park and they’re gonna come back squeaky clean. They won’t. They’re gonna smell bad, they’re gonna be sad, hurt, angry, happy, ALL the things and emotions. Just understand that your kid was in a mental facility. It’s gonna take some time to get back what was once there, or to find something that maybe never was. Just be KIND. Be understanding. Same with the staff. Imagine how scared you’d be at 11-17 in that situation. When I attempted, I didn’t think i’d ever be sitting playing Jinga with random 14 year olds. None of us ever thought we’d be in that situation. Take it easy on your patients, on your kids. Okay, okay, i’ll stop yapping now !! (if a staff is reading this who ever met me, you know how I talk lol) I’d like to thank River Park for giving me a chance to get away from my phone, to get a reset. I’d also like to thank Cabell Hospital for saving my life. I hope the next time I see someone from RPH 3E, it’s at a Walmart or something!! Or at church. Jesus loves you, I love you!!! P.S thanks for trick or treating on the 4th floor - Sarah from Oct-Nov ‘25 with the long black hair (it’s short and red now!!)

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve had a few bad experience at CAMC General in the past. But I also want to be the first to say that this past Monday morning, I had one of the best experiences I’ve ever had there. From the EMTs to the doctor and nurses, everyone was truly exceptional. Dr. Hunter was amazing (especially for an ER doctor) and made a stressful situation much easier to handle just by listening fully. The nurses I encountered from beginning to end were all wonderful. Even the travel nurses were excellent. The nurse who cared for me at the very end, I wish I could remember her name stood out the most. She was incredibly caring, approachable, and truly understood what I was going through. I also can’t forget the CT scan techs. When I became very sick during the scan, they were incredibly understanding and supportive, which made it less embarrassing. That alone made a huge difference. I know the ER can get busy and that they have many patients to care for, but the staff made sure to keep me informed every step of the way. That meant more than I can express and helped me feel at ease during a difficult time. I hope all of them see this review. You all were amazing. Thank you, Tonya

Highly recommend! Jody has been so helpful, patient, and kind. My daughter was very reserved and hesitant with her to start with, but now looks forward to seeing her. She has been a phone call away when she has needed her as well.

This is my go-to on regular trips to Charleston. Easy to walk into town but away a bit so it's quiet and has easy car access. GM Cindy is so kind and hospitable - love this spot on the Elk River.
