Really nice, spacious, comfortable home (that’s an actual photo in the profile) in a quiet, safe, classy neighborhood with easy access to main thoroughfares/highways. Residents get relatively more freedom than their peers at other sober homes, but while still getting all the support they want/need. There are rules to follow of course, like regular testing to ensure sobriety, but for the most part it’s not a universal set of restrictions, but rather a unique system of support/care tailored to each individual. The case manager is on site M-F, and they and the owner are just incredible people, a delight to be around & get to know, and are genuinely invested in each & every resident’s success in all facets of life. The house is very clean and helps to have cleaning service every other week. I was only planning on stay in for 2 months but now I don't have plans to leave anytime soon. I have lived in a halfway in Del Ray Beach, F.L. a sober cowboy ranch in Washington State, Oxford Houses including one in Rumson, NJ and this is my favorite sober living so far. It also helps to have a good crew of men that I currently live with. Having two TV rooms, high-end kitchen, high-end W/D, and being tucked away on a side street of nice neighborhood make this experience a worthwhile one during my early recovery. The house as a whole flows and there’s just a good energy about the place, it’s clean, relaxing, nice beds, and a safe place in a nice quiet neighborhood. Cambridge Recovery Sober Living is beautiful, it’s a step above traditional sober living environments. The individuals who live at Cambridge want to be sober and change their lives for the positive, that was a huge decided factor for why I chose this house. Big shoutout to Abbie and Howard for the opportunity to embark on this new sobriety journey of mine and their ongoing support and guidance during this transition period of my life. The nurse Sydney is absolutely the sweetest person you'll ever meet. I went there over a year ago and and she remembered me and made sure my stay there was comfortable. Unfortunately I've stayed at quite a few other facilities and NEVER was treated with such respect and kindness that she treated me with. She deserves a raise lol! On the other hand..I made a very good friend in my time staying there..we kept in touch and we were both struggling. I was trying to be a good girlfriend and put my own health aside waiting waiting for him. I now know know that I need further assistance than just detox . He's not even. Being a decent human being/and/or being nice about it. I tried called the Sterling location 5 times where my friend is. She told me there is in IN FACT beds available but the person on the phone wasnt so friendly..almost demeaning. He said "just because there's beds available doesn't mean there's beds available". I was very confused...almost like he didn't want to help me save my life. And he was just annoyed to be answering the phone. He told me over and over in an annoyed and stern voice as I was in tears to call back at 9am. (because I went through that at another place…and I’m a feisty, rebellious performer, who fell all the way to hell through my addiction.) Moving Mountains is an adventure based program. And that's not just "fun." that’s a major part of the treatment…hiking, skiing, ropes course…Healthy risks…Movement. self Mastery. Making something…learning that I can DO things that make me feel better…They teach you how to deal with crap on the deepest levels, to get it out. So like…in my case…there is less to want to escape. Easier to stay sober. Joy…peace…fun. Stress: life. Tools Sobriety doesn't have to be gray and grim. It can light up your brain as much as getting high did. I mean that…kinda literally. Skydiving…for real…if you do the work…it’s part of the program. At completion. It's not a "creative arts program." BUT: creative work is an option. For me it was a key. A Big key. I had no idea how much my creative shutdown and grief were feeding my addiction…really, almost no idea. I am a singer. And I saw people transform through singing (like me…), guitar, piano, making beats, DJing, poetry, dance, voice work...even building comedy routines. You could literally see someone's eyes and posture shift over days. The staff are Actually client centered. At Moving mountains, that means you're treated like a human being. Not a diagnosis and not a compliance project. They help you remember want you want, connect you to your dreams again. They don't “punish you into right thinking.” That’s still a very common approach, I’ve heard from so many people in recovery meetings. But there are boundaries and clear expectations...because that's what actually leads to an easier, fun life. I was not the easiest client. I had to learn to be patient and respectful…not just to others. To myself. It's also not 12 step only preaching club. Super strong recovery culture...but you're allowed to explore what works for you, (there's even a Zen teacher who comes!) The housing is for real beautiful and in beautiful communities. Not "nice for rehab." Actually nice. It's weird to miss rehab. Like a paradox. But I do. My time at Moving Mountains has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I'm still here. I had a mid fossa craniotomy to patch a hole over my superior canal where bone did not develop. The results, even though this is day 2, are amazing. I no longer feel like dying is a better option. My vertigo is not as bad as it was. It was done by Dr. Bigelow and Dr. Moshel. The bad reviews seem to come from the ER and pedes. Just a reminder, the ER is meant to only triage bad symptoms. At odd times, sometimes there is understaffing. All the staff I've interacted with have been kind, professional, and personable. There's a great selection of food. I wasn't fond of the burger, but everything else was excellent. I haven't seen pics of this menu online, so I'll be sharing photos. Thank you all! John Jeong 2 weeks ago The first time I came to Morristown medical center I had a pancreatitis attack (I have a well documented history of chronic pancreatitis with countless hospitalizations) For those who know, it’s up there with the worst pain in the world. I could hardly walk, speak, move. I’m in the Atlantic health system so it’s very documented, even though my prior hospitalizations weren’t in Morristown. I was placed in a hallway and my phone was taken (I wasn’t on it, just texting…is this legal?) and was treated like a drug seeking criminal. I had to AMA myself and swiftly got pulled over by Morristown PD pulling out, which was fun. I followed up with the hospital and they said they “don’t take patients phones” but that was a flat out lie. I ended up driving to Valley in Paramus the next morning. Fast forward a few months later I had an awful attack and also had pneumonia. I was in the icu for three weeks, luckily my mom brought me in (I’m 38) so for some reason I was taken seriously this time. I had two other pancreatitis attacks since then, both resulting in 2-5 day stays and the nurses and staff were caring and wonderful. I take these reviews like any “business” with a grain of salt because you don’t know who you are getting that day. I had an awful experience and the next two were decent. Maybe it was the doctor in the ER that night with a bias because many pancreatic problems are linked to alcohol? I have no idea. Wonderful nurses though. Even though I relapsed soon after I completed the PHP/IOP program, I left in a clearly better state than when I came in. I thought my therapist (Bart) & psych (Dr. Gomez) were great advisors and caretakers for me establishing a meds / mental health foundation that has helped me keep afloat as I continue working at my recovery. The group therapists were generally great too, although many I had left while I was there or later. The food is decent & the rooms in the Inn are OK but quite nice at the lodge/houses. I generally liked the techs & nurses, although some were mediocre or worse with their efficacy, attitude, and how they treated the clients. Your experience with the other clients will vary dramatically and there will be lots & lots of drama since there are so many clients there living together. However I did make some closer acquaintances while I was there. They do a good job hosting events and entertaining you but not the best job at keeping clients safe from bad internal actors (aka other unstable & dangerous clients). Be very careful when you initially come in as different case managers, therapists, and psychs may not treat you nice or effectively or even have your best interests in mind (i.e. semi-arbitrarily kick out people / pressure people to stay longer who imo obviously should leave and/or try other treatment options). If you’re looking for inpatient treatment, WGW is a potentially good option to consider but judge what you’re getting into first and while you’re there so no surprises detail your recovery. I'm pretty sure some drama was going on there but you know, welcome to Water Gap David Hudock 4 months ago to put it simply: I loved my time at the WGW inn during the course of my treatment, the rooms and bedding were comfortable, the food was good, and there was a lot of activities to do at night if we didn't want to use our devices (which is allowed by the way!), and if we didn't want to stay in the inn, we were able to leave and go out to movies, food, etc, which was a big plus in my book! Only downside to it is that they will wake you up at 7am for groups and will keep coming into your room every 5-10 minutes to make sure you are up, and the techs will stand over you while you take meds, but you get used to it. Brian, my nurse, was absolutely phenomenal. He was incredibly caring, patient, and gentle. He listened to all of my concerns and made me feel comfortable, safe, and completely at ease during what could have been a very stressful experience. He also did my IV perfectly—I barely felt the needle! He is truly a professional and a wonderful nurse. Before leaving, Brian introduced me to Edmond, another RN who was also extremely caring and had an excellent bedside manner. I felt very well cared for by both of them. The doctor was also wonderful. They took the time to listen to my concerns and my needs, and I felt that I was treated with compassion and respect throughout my visit. The only thing I noticed was that there wasn’t much room in the ER, and I did have to wait in the hallway. However, even with that, the staff continued to treat me exceptionally well and made sure I was comfortable and cared for. Overall, my experience was phenomenal. I am extremely grateful to Brian, Edmond, the doctor, and the entire ER team for their kindness, professionalism, and compassion. ❤️ I would definitely recommend Overlook Medical Center. No judgement, they really just want to help and are good humans! Also, the way they go about treatment, I felt really cared about , from the 1st day. I need a higher level of treatment but I will be going to Outpatient there after.. I can't recommend this place enough. We had some issues in the ER. But after being admitted, the care we recieved 6 days in the ICU and 2 days in a regular room were absolutely amazing. The ICU team is absolutely top notch, they helped my husband recover AND took amazing care of me. They were attentive, caring, and went above and beyond their job role to take care of all of us. There are too many names to name, but all of the nurses, PCTs, and doctors were unmatched. Even the workers in the cafeteria and cafe cared and comforted me greatly. I am grateful we ended up there. I can’t say enough wonderful things about High Focus. When I first came here I didn’t know what to expect or really didn’t think it would help me but I was wrong. High Focus has helped me in more ways than I could ever expect. Every single staff member that works there was so helpful, supportive, and understanding throughout my time there. Throughout my time here, I have learned so much knowledge, coping skills, and life skills that I will use in my life. One thing I especially appreciated and loved about High Focus was how the program was structured as during the PHP portion in the morning, everyone would come together in the large room and then during the IOP portion in the afternoon, patients ages 18-30 would go in the smaller room for the first two groups while adults ages 30 and up would be in the larger room. For the final group of the day, Mental Health and Substance Use patients were separated into two different rooms as Mental Health would be in the larger room as Substance Use would be in the smaller room. I really appreciated that because it allowed people to be around others who were experiencing similar struggles and could also relate to what they were going through. For the first time in a long time I truly have a positive mindset and feel like I have the skills and tools I can use when I am having a bad day or a bad time in my life.
