Last summer (2024) I arrived in Wilmington broken and bankrupt, not just financially but spiritually as well. Since then, I completed a 6 month rehab/behavior modification program successfully, worked at that rehab as a Peer Mentor, Peer Mentor Supervisor, became certified as a Peer Support Specialist, interned as a Peer Support Specialist at another organization, and now work at that organization as a full-time Peer Support Specialist and Admissions Coordinator. This growth and transformation from utter failure to success was a team effort though and I could not have done it without the help from Helping Hands and my therapist Khristine W. She is intelligent, insightful, kind, and compassionate. Her empathetic ear, sage suggestions, and honest humility has guided me through my recovery journey. In the depths of darkness there is always a hand that reaches down to pull you up into the Light. Helping Hands and Khristine was that hand for me. I am a current patient of 17 yrs on the methadone maintenance program at New Hanover Metro. This place is fairly good about not constantly bothering you and making you do all kinds of classes, so it's good for people who work or have busy lives. The counselors & nurses are usually very friendly but rarely stay for very long (Lauren being the exception, great person). My biggest complaint is the high cost, currently $16 per day from $13 per day, this place makes a killing off of our mistakes but I guess you pay to play. From the time I started to now cost has gone from $12-$17 per day. Overall satisfied with the clinic though.
*I had to update the 3 star to a 4, even though cost went up the service here has got better the past few months.

This place has been part to me getting clean. Clinic is efficient, in and out quickly , counselors are amazing and are always willing to listen and not judge. The people here are great and I made the best decision to come here as my stepping stone of getting clean.

Dont like that there is no number to the castle hayne location online. It only brings up hightsville. It used to call right to the castle hayne office to talk to your councelsors not just some main office.

Don't listen to the negative reviews about Paige. She is a fantastic practitioner. I've been seeing her since 2019 and she has always been helpful, kind, attentive and truly listened to me. She is not rude by any means. She listens to all my symptoms, side effect issues and any problems im having with meds. I like Paige and enjoy having her as my med provider.

There needs to be more available establishments like Delta; PHP, IOP, counseling, trauma therapy, and prescribers who all work together with/ for you. They work as a team opening the door for more knowledge to assist and guide you.

I absolutely adore my therapist Nicole. From the get go, she made me feel comfortable and heard. I would recommended her to anyone that needs a safe place to talk.
As for the other reviews about this place - I’ve heard the front desk workers on the phone and in office with patients often. They are kind, caring, and try their best. A lot of the patients are rude, demanding, and don’t take no for an answer. I understand that they sometimes need to be abrupt and firm to get their answer across. Be kind to them and they’ll go out of their way to help you.

I have been with Coastal Horizons for over a year and they have been great. Jessie Thomas has gone above & beyond to help me out multiple times. I had a family emergency and had to leave town on short notice and she made sure I would be taken care of while I was away. She really is great. The staff communicates very thoroughly. My treatment plan has been working very well, much better at Coastal Horizons than at other clinics I have been to in the past. Kim is very friendly and helpful and Alicia is an awesome therapist. 10/10 recommend for anybody wanting therapy or MAT.

I really like it there. The staff is great especially the nurse Jessie Thomas. She would check on me every morning about how I was feeling and how my recovery was going. She would call if I missed a day to make sure I was alright. I just felt like she really cared about how my recovery was going. For anyone who is struggling with opiate addiction I highly recommend this place.

I contacted Visiting Angels to bring in extra support for my mom who is in her last days in a assisted living facility that suffers from short staff and some management dysfunction. It was the best move I could have made for the situation. There is a level of comfort knowing that someone is dedicated to being with your loved one during a specific time frame. There have been a number of different angels but Andrea has gone above and beyond. She is kind, compassionate, and very loving toward my mom. In a recent bout of increased agitation that happened during Andrea's shift, she provided extra support for myself and allowed me the comfort of leaving my mom in Andrea's hands so that I could go home confident that she was being looked after. All the staff are wonderful dr Taylor is what you call a real doctor the first time I met him I was doing my intake and just from hearing talk to Mrs Lynn he put me on a whole new medication and finally I feel I finally received exactly what I've been looking for 30 years, and the doctors put me on every day in the world and nothing worked for my mental health PTSD by ADH. I have been attending Carolina treatment center ( methadone treatment) for almost 31/2 4 years and have had nothing but good experience with the Nurses and Dr . My counselor Rachael is awesome she does everything in her power to help with anything I need help and support with from referrals to just an ear to listen too on those difficult days... This is a busy facility best times to dose is 630am to 830am ... Be kind and respectful. Some people might want it more than others but it's not our place to judge. JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE.. Thanks 😊

I have been here at this treatment center for little
over 3 months. I couldn’t be more grateful than the help my counselor Rachael has supported me with and guided me with.
She hands down has been one of the most helpful people in my recovery process.

Courtney (works somewhere in the building) is extremely kind. Laura Taylor and Christine Hoener absolutely saved my life. They are the best care team in my life. They are both genuinely concerned about me. They treat me like a human and I’m actually heard by them. If Christine ever leaves, I don’t know what I would do. When I first met her she saw I was in crisis without me opening my mouth. It was the first time I felt like someone believed me. She listened to me and gave me the correct diagnosis!
Laura Taylor is kind and caring. I can’t say enough good things about her. I am so fortunate to have Laura as my therapist. I see many have horrible experiences at mental health.
My only bad experience is with a lot of those front desk staff on the 4th floor. I even had to swallow air real hard not to lose my composure. I often wonder why do they bother working at a place while adding to people’s traumas. A lot of them behind that window have absolutely no compassion. The 3rd floor staff have been very kind.
