This program literally saved my life from a long road of drug and alcohol abuse. I had a rough start due to my inability to accept the true issues associated with addiction. This was in the mid-90s where the Hickey House offered me the last chance to find true recovery. Tom and Eliane were like 2nd parents in a time when addiction had kicked my butt, but with their loving and amazing ability to get at the root of addiction in a strong spiritual and professional manner. Thank GOD every day for this program and staff. I completed then a 2 year program and I can proudly attest to the effectiveness of their humanistic approach to living without drugs and alcohol. My stay at the hickey house was awesome! A very down to earth and in tune approach to recovery that gave me the chance I desperately needed to rebuild myself in an environment that was both nurturing and structured with strong basis on AA traditions and principles. The house has a great reputation in the local community and is involved in many different surrounding outside AA meetings . The part I liked most about it was the personal and accessible level staff and residents communicate . My comfort level was through the roof ,which in return allowed me to thrive in my recovery . I don't see a better place available for a person to get the tools to get sober and remain sober. I'd most definitely recommend this place to anyone who IS SERIOUS about giving their selves a chance at happiness in sobriety

Mt Sinai was very helpful for my family and our loved one from start to finish. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming. We have been dealing with this for almost 10 years and Mt Sinai actually addressed his underlying issues for the first time ever. I have the best councillor anybody could ever have. Sherry Barnes knows me inside and out! The reason I don't go to a clinic closer to me is because of Sherry. I have been going to this treatment center since August. In that amount of time I have seen people heal from opiate addiction to move on to healthier and better lives. I will say that the counselors at this clinic care deeply about each one of the people who walks through the door every day. If you struggle with addiction, I would suggest calling and talking to one of the counselors. Truly they care.

Broke down up here in Blairsville on our way home to Marietta. Needed to guest dose for 3 days and they ended up going above and beyond to do what they could to help us. Extremely thankful for this place. The director is definitely a lot more helpful and nice than the director at our home clinic. Definitely recommending them to anyone that needs them in this area. My children receive services at Avita in Cleveland it's by far the best location in my opinion the front desk staff is always so engaging with my kids and the other staff is so engaging and empathetic my three favorite people in this office is the front desk, nurse, and male counselor. I don't have firsthand experience with treatment here but I can say this is the only place in Toccoa including the "health department" where people are unashamed to talk about HIV prevention and harm reduction. I also know that the staff here go through a lot standing for what they believe is right including police harassment and intimidation for running a program that is 100 percent legal.

If you’re looking for a Christian-based program, this is one of the best places to consider.
From personal experience, I attended this program back in October 2016 at the age of 20. At that time, I had no direction or discipline in my life. Waypoint Ministry introduced me to both—and so much more.
During the first 30 days of the program, participants go through a “blackout period.” During this time, we weren’t allowed to exercise, as it allowed our bodies to recover from years of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle choices. After 30 days, we were allowed to begin exercising, which was a turning point for me.
It has now been eight years since I graduated from the program. I still stay in contact with the men I attended with, and I cherish the fellowship I experienced there. One of the most impactful parts of the program for me was working in the thrift store. It was a fantastic learning opportunity that taught me soft skills I still use today. Because of that experience, I now enjoy visiting thrift stores and looking for treasures, knowing how much thought and effort goes into sorting donations, stocking the storefront and clothing racks, and even selling items online.
Sadly, I’ve lost a couple of friends over the years because they chose to return to their old lifestyles. However, I’ve also witnessed countless examples of broken men entering the program and leaving as spiritual giants.
Waypoint Ministry opened doors for me to participate in missions trips, youth camps, and even spreading the gospel in prisons. As of 2025, I’m still sober and stay connected with a few people from Waypoint.
If you had told me years ago that my life would turn out this way, I wouldn’t have believed you. If I could sum up this program in one word, it’s love. I came to Waypoint broken and scared, but this place gave me the opportunity to slow down, examine my life and upbringing, and find peace.

I’ve been bringing my son to Avita for years, and he’s worked with several different counselors. Until recently, it always felt like a struggle just to get him to go, and I honestly started to lose hope.
Since he’s been seeing Daniel, everything is different. My son actually looks forward to his sessions now, which is something I never thought I’d say. Daniel connects with him in a way no one else has, and the progress we’re seeing is real.
What I appreciate most is that Daniel doesn’t just focus on my son—he involves the whole family. He challenges me too, and has helped me recognize ways I can support my son better. Because of that, our relationship feels healthier and less like a constant fight.
If you’re a parent who’s been discouraged with counseling in the past, I can’t recommend Daniel enough.

Jazzy is the best director that place has had also. If you are in the place in your life where you need to go to a treement center, this is a good one.

A great place,staff and wonderful doctor and I couldn’t ask for anything more, the doctor, counselor, receptionist, nurse, and anyone else I’ve forgotten (but not really forgotten !) make this place more welcoming than I can express …. Im currently a client on methadone that has moved from Ca. to Ga. It was spur of the moment with no time to make arrangements. I spoke with ERIC on Healthqwests csr dept based on New Jersey. Fyi. Ive been in tech supt, customer service, Quality Assurance & M.I.S. For over 30 yrs Ive worn a headset and have been helping customers. Ive ALWAYS gone above and beyond to help, which is why I can say that ERIC assessed my dilemma for what it was and did his best to move Heaven and earth for me to get me the help i needed 2 days ago. He had an entire queue to help and he took my case as personal as was needed to help me. Moving here I have to change my Medicaid to Ga. which is NOT ez or quick. And I, having heart disease and 5 stents in my heart from 2 heart attacks. Short version of of i didn't get help and go into withdrawl the strain on my heart would no doubt KILL me. The man devoted most of his day trying to get my situation straightened out. Im detailing this because I want you to know this was the BEST service ive ever received in my 60 plus years on this planet, and it happened when my literal life was on the line. Healthqwest cant be beat if you want genuine effort with your help. The prices are competitive but you can't go wrong using them.
Ill answer any question or comment too. The medication I take is no joke. I take it for a broken back I got when I was year ended on my motorcycle at a red light. I take it for Pain mgmt.
Its a serious subject and serious things happen with it....and more without it. Id be crippled, so you can see the magnitude of my plight.

So far it has been good I recently transferred in from another clinic they were very helpful the only thing I do not like is all medicaid recipients have to video call daily to take the dose in front of a nurse or else we are not covered by medicaid for that day. Which is a medicaid thing but thats the only difference from my last clinic

I graduated from the carter treatment center today.
I completed the PHP/IOP program and have 195 days sober now. I will be staying for aftercare to continue to work and focus on my recovery.
This program gave me the accountability and tools to be successful and live a life without drugs and alcohol. I am very grateful for the opportunity to come here and all the staff that was supportive and were a big part in my journey.

Hi. I just want to say this is a great facility for detoxing and peer support. But, when I came here I was not able to receive the medication I needed when I found the one that worked. I told my doctor that the adavan the nurses were giving me worked and that I was calm and aware of my surroundings. He said to take lithium and I said No because I have been on so many drugs in the past and they did not work, that because I knew the adavan worked to give me that. I started arguing with him and then I left without any medication except for the one pill that actually worked the first night I got there. So now it's been 5 months and I still have the same underlying problems; paranoia, anxiety, negative energy, hate, anger, and pessimism. I just want the nurses and health aides to know they are very good people and do a good job and the psychiatrist is a big fat nimrod with a paper shredder degree. Thank you.

My wife was flown in to the hospital from Stephen’s County hospital because as SCH said MGMC resources are more extensive. My wife was a hairs breath from death. A team of doctors, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center took her case , operated and took care of her heart problems that had just manifested itself while at SCH. These skilled doctors saved her life and restored her health.
I am very grateful to the team of doctors and nurses that kept watch over her for the whole time she was there, four weeks mostly in ICU.
In my opinion this is the place to go for fast, efficient and empathetic care.
I thank each one on the team and those that helped them with their work.

I can not say enough good things about this hospital and the staff. My dear friend Pablo unfortunately passed away on the hospice floor but was in patient many time on the 5 floor green tower. The staff and doctors could not have treated him and his family with more respect. This hospital was a true blessing and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. He was from Dublin,Ga and wanted to always go back to Gainesville for in hospital care. I wish i could name each person by name but they know who they are. Thanks for the love and respect that this hospital showed to us. This is a 10/10 hospital.

The one GREAT thing about the Oakwood VA Medical Clinic is the Department of Veterans Services Representative Pablo Cruz. Pablo Cruz is highly professional, really cares about Veterans and is very knowledgeable of how the VA Disability System works. It's wonderful to know there is someone connected to a VA Medical Facility that can be trusted. I've had so many frustrating experiences at the many VA Medical Facilities I've used since returning from Vietnam in 1970 and for the most part the Oakwood VA Clinic is filled with the same type of personnel you would expect to find at any VA Medical Facility, they're there for a paycheck, not to care for Veterans. A beautiful building with plenty of parking but until the VA Medical personnel can follow the EXAMPLARY Behavior displayed by Pablo Cruz, faith in the VA Medical System will never be restored. The only reason I would use the Oakwood VA Clinic is for seeking assistance from the Department of Veterans Services Representative Pablo Cruz. He is the only reason I'm giving this facility a 5 Star rating, if it weren't for Pablo Cruz, I'd rate this facility what I rate all VA Medical Facilities, ZERO.
