The counselors are such amazing, kindhearted people. They truly care about making a difference for everyone there. They have went far above and beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined. There is a family & home type atmosphere that melts even the toughest heart. I learned so much to use in our ministry & God continues to abide with me & teach me new things daily. Penfield uses knowledge, education, personal experiences, fun, day to day work ethics while encouraging personal pride in oneself. I was amazed at the chemical products made available to our young & older alike. Chemical dependency comes in many forms. Social media, mental indiscretions, and so many things sway us today that I feel Penfield helps me understand it from a personal point of view. We attempt to reach out in a good way to those in need & I use so much of the written classroom lessons. But, it has taken me aback at how easily the world can pull us back down. The counselors really cared and helped me work through the emotional stuff, not just the addiction. I liked that I could still talk with my wife and kids, it kept me grounded. Wish they had more physical therapy options for chronic pain though. The campus is peaceful and the staff were supportive. This place helped me find my feet again. The truth is they love all who come there and treat them with love and care. they are not perfect but they are doing their very best. And they need as much love and support at this time they are a part of me now and they have given me a family and a home. I haven't experienced the adult facilities, but my 8 year old has been seeing a counselor there for play therapy since he was 6, Allycia G, and she is wonderful. Such a blessing to see someone in this field that genuinely loves their job, and is very gifted at it. She has helped him so much, I can't thank her enough. They have been a Godsend. I drove the 45 minutes to do a walk in here and from the get go they were on it! Nurse Luis and the rest of the Mental Health team, director included, personally made sure that I was taken care of. I didn't have high expectations going in this morning but they all went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed; including scheduling appointments for me so I wouldn't have any problems in the future. The "canteen" there is absolute trash, nothing but an over priced vending machine room though so bring your own drinks and snacks. I know some say they couldn't get checked in but you have to be here before 8 to make sure you are in line bc they can only take so many at a time. Also if you don't disclose all medications your taking yes you can fail a drug or alcohol test so disclose everything you take! I finished mine in about 4months never had issues with tests and never missed a day! They are here to help you they even have financial help if your insurance won't help pay just ask! Stay strong and know you are worth it! Vick is my counselor now and he's awesome. He doesn't rush and takes the time to talk with me for as long as I need . This place saved my life literally. I'd never heard of methadone and a friend told me about it. I was in denial and had spent so much money and time finding drugs. My whole existence depended on getting my pills. I wanted to stop and prayed for a way. I've been clean for 22 years now.
