I dont recommend labs here or exposing oneself to COVID in anyway. The employment services needed a feedback appointment with a clinician as my services often ordered me around or told me negative things about my resume instead of congratulating me for at least trying...it was a really hard first step. The clinic appears to have been priorly a nicer place for all but it's policed now and that appears to cause staff to be kind of edgey. I saw a woman on the bus stop on oracle near by with cuts and bruises near a strip club but she told me she had only been to cope once that it wasnt a friendly walk in for her. And loitering signs won't let old homeless men sleep near by protesting dying of treatable things like hepatitis and alcoholism. The worst part about Mesilla valley is the mattresses and pillows they give us to sleep for days on as we're withdrawing. They destroy our backs and our necks. The food situation is good though because if you don't like what the cook made you can always go to the salad bar. The south building has always been way too cold, but a tech named Matt actually spoke directly to a maintenance man and got it a little warmer in there. We all truly appreciated that more than words can say. Mesilla valley's biggest downfall is that they need better beds for people to be withdrawing in. The only other downfall I can think of is the new bedding does not allow us to wrap ourselves in a blanket to stay warm in a building that feels like the middle of winter. Though I definitely appreciated the thicker blanket. It was still so cold in there though that you had to take the whole thing off the bed and sleep under both the bed cover and the top blanket. But like I said they fixed it mostly, it's still a bit too cold sometimes, but it is no longer unbearable unbearable. I would like to give a special shout out to a the best tech ever and I happen to have known from working there 30 years ago, Jose. This place or any other will not fix whatever you're there for. It has the best detox I've ever been to. They try to get your meds stabilized. It gives you the grounds to walk out with a plan. Hiccups abounded, but the core values of genuine care, respect and intentionality from staff never shifted, as far as I could tell. Thank you to the professionals who offered this care. From the minute I walked through the door I was met with nothing but kindness and acceptance. And this went from the bottom up - easy access to the CEO, very caring nursing staff, great doctor who really helped me out, and the techs (BHSs?). There are many people I'd highlight, but I'll keep it short - special should to Mona in detox, Asia and Carlo, and definitely matt my primary therapist. The ONLY complaint is the food. You spend so much money - you should have a spa option. The salad bar is pretty good but I wanted to eat healthy food and avoid salads every single day. But as I said, other than that I have nothing at all to say thats JE 1 week ago I cannot believe the change that I have achieved. I came to sierra tucson after a recommendation from the VA. I tried substance treatments in and out for 17 years. They helped me work on my actual traumas from the military, some days easier than others. With the proper babysitters forward I am very confident in my ability to be the husband I am supposed to be. The whole staff from the CEO to the Housekeepers made my stay a very comfortable time. Every member of the staff treats the patients with kindness and patience while ensuring you get the care that you need. All of the Physical Therapists encouraged you to push yourself even tho you thought you didn't have anything left but didn't push you to the point of exhaustion. The nursing staff were so very kind and caring and so very helpful. Drs Lux, Raju and Bruckman were patient and explained any procedure you may have questions about.
