The building itself is falling apart. The fire sprinklers aren't hooked up. Maintenance department really doesn't know what there doing unless they're putting something together out of box. Colleen Rynders 1 week ago I am a previous alumni of the Avenues in Concord New Hampshire where I experienced long-term sobriety, multiple years after attendance. I am also a veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia; as well as I was a drug and alcohol counselor for veterans because Avenues gave me the tools needed for living a life of recovery, and instilled the importance of giving back. After my last treatment, I took suggestions and was also a house manager in sober living and worked a 12 step program, sponsoring other men through the process. This past year, I experienced a relapse because I stopped working a program and took back my will. After several attempts of recovering on my own, I surrendered and called my best friend and patrol leader from my deployment, and I asked for help. He reached out to Avenues, and I was given a call late into the night by an admission coordinator. When I spoke to this man I was broken and afraid. He showed me empathy, asked the right questions, and told me he would do whatever he could to get me into treatment. I was picked up by a team member from Avenues, Lake Ariel within 24 hours. The man who picked me up stopped so I could pick up needed items, and he checked on me throughout the whole ride. Once at the facility, I was opened with open arms and felt humiliated, while they saw it as practicing humility and doing the next right thing. They were full of empathy and compassion, and I was immediately started on a detox protocol where the nurses and practitioner were knowledgeable with medication and met me where I was thinking; nothing was pushed or forced. The majority of staff has a working knowledge of a twelve step program and are in recovery. No one was there just for a paycheck. My counselor and every staff member was attentive to my needs and were also able to help every client smile and feel human during such a difficult time. This facility also had veterans on staff who were willing to share directly with me in my process. They helped to save my life by sharing their experience, strength, and hope. They do give out Big Books and help orient clients with the program through nightly commitments and their own personal experience, strength, and hope. I am grateful for my experience and the Avenues Program. I have been to multiple facilities, and in my opinion Avenues is second to none. I trust their program more than that of any Veterans Administration I have ever attended. I am excited to be transferring to the Avenues in Maryland to finish my process. I’m still a work in progress but without this place to start I truly don’t even know if I would have made it. My head has been in a cloud for years and years and everything that occurred here was for the better. I even heard from transfers that came in for a few days how awful some of the other rehabs are out there. I’m excited to get my life started again but I know in my heart of hearts I never would have gotten this far without this treatment center. The outings they take you on, the therapy sessions, the different meetings you attend, everything they discuss here really does help someone build strength in their own mind. I mean, you have to apply yourself if you want to take anything out of it, but if you truly do, it will truly make a difference. They structure everything around you in a way where you have to work together instead of alone. THIS PLACE NOT ONLY SAVED MY LIFE IT ALSO BROUGHT LIFE BACK TO ME MENTALLY EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY! The program they have is great and I learned more and more about addiction but even more so about myself. The staff there are great , kind, loving amd compassionate. They are there to help and as long as you ask for that help you will get it . The environment was amazing given the space and time to recover and reflect on each group session. My favorite spot to sit and reflect was in the gazebo close the the river . The food was great each meal was also good and filling. I'm pretty sure some drama was going on there but you know, welcome to Water Gap David Hudock 1 month ago to put it simply: I loved my time at the WGW inn during the course of my treatment, the rooms and bedding were comfortable, the food was good, and there was a lot of activities to do at night if we didn't want to use our devices (which is allowed by the way!), and if we didn't want to stay in the inn, we were able to leave and go out to movies, food, etc, which was a big plus in my book! Only downside to it is that they will wake you up at 7am for groups and will keep coming into your room every 5-10 minutes to make sure you are up, and the techs will stand over you while you take meds, but you get used to it. Mandi Stone 1 month ago I was so lucky to get the help I desperately needed from WaterGap wellness. This is a beautiful relaxing resort. The meals are delicious and nutritious! The rooms are what you would expect at a 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 resort! My house keeper's name was Rosa, and she was phenomenal! All of the staff was always so helpful with anything I needed and always there if I just needed to talk ❤️ if we needed to talk to a therapist there was always one on call 24 hours a day! We went on walks and were able to catch an Uber to go to stores, the movies, or for a day out on the town. They also transport you to AA meetings if you want to do that! They transport you to and from group 6 days a week. Group is wonderful and very informative. Group starts at 8:15am with "coffee talk" and it gives everyone a chance to check in. You can talk about any issues you are having and your peers and the therapist will give feedback if you are open to it. There are 6 groups when you first start in PHP. You get to choose your group for the following week with your therapist, there are multiple groups with different objectives going on every hour. If you are in one group and it isn't something you like or its just not something you are interested in, you are welcome to leave and try a different one. You will then step down to IOP5 and groups are Monday- Friday and you get 3 groups a day. Then IOP 4 is the same, but Monday- Thursday, then the last step is IOP 3, Monday- Wednesday. When you complete this, they offer aftercare as well! They also have affordable housing if you need it so you can transition back into the world. They also will help with finding a job if you need it. WaterGap never makes you feel alone or defeated. You also get to meet with your therapist 2 times a week for one hour, and with your psychiatrist 1 time a week for one hour. If you need them, they are always in the building. There's also many therapists available if you need something and your personal therapist is not available. I absolutely love this place. This one has a hard time keeping councilors and things are always chaotic and unorganized. Different rules for different days and also for different people. If your known and friendly with certain people you get treated differently than those who are new or not as outgoing and personable. The staff is awesome, Daniella is amazing , the kitchen staff is awesome and every staff member from Tim the director down to the janitors will go above and beyond to help you in anyway they can. What I saw was a facility truly trying to help those who come in. Staff that would bend-over-backward to try to make people feel comfortable. They have a small staff, and a limited budget, and they go above and beyond places I've been that don't need to say the same. The rooms are clean everyday. The showers are great; let alone "not being able to clean your toothbrush". The place can be chaotic, but what would you call the people coming here in the first place? This isn't a spa; it's a place for sick people to get well, and they do their best to do that. I can't help but think a lot of these reviews are simply angry reviews by regularly angry people. It comes with the territory - we're people struggling. But I appreciate this place and the time I spent here; the staff and the effort they put in. The only credence I'll give is the minimal amount of contact to family had while here, but that doesn't equate to an unsafe environment and the allowance for people to make up whatever stories they want to about the place. Anyway - to the staff of Hillside; thank you. You did a lot for me in my short time there. You actually pushed me to really think about getting into this line of work - helping people who are struggling as I still am, though improving everyday.
