Kimberly Lee 1 month ago People don’t usually consider rehabilitation to be a “pleasurable” experience. We associate rehabilitation with discomfort and moving away from the feeling of pleasure. Because that is what we were seeking through drugs and alcohol; pleasure and comfort. The day I returned home from S2L, someone asked me if my time in recovery had been difficult. My answer was, “It was not nearly as difficult as it probably could have been or should have been. Though there are people who struggle more than others.” After I had some time to really consider that question and my answer, I realized that the reason my experience had seemingly been so easy was because I was finally doing what God was calling me to do. Living a life of surrender to His will. The difficult part for me, was the life I was living before treatment, when I was trying to live my life according to my own will. When we reach a place of desperation where we are willing to surrender all, that is when true healing can take place. The Lord is working through this ministry. They are working in accordance with God’s will. They are saving lives, both physically and more importantly spiritually. I am eternally grateful for this place and for the staff. They want to see people live lives of abundance. It is a beacon set on a hill, where Christ’s light shines. Was treated with much respect and the staff was great the whole time I was there. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to get out of any addiction. The staff there all truly cared and did their very best to help give me my life back and the only thing I didn’t like was that I couldn’t stay there a little longer because benzo withdrawal is as scary as it gets. They did what they could to get me help, change my meds, etc., and I appreciate it. They were there when I needed them. Staff members were awesome, took the time to listen and understand my situation. Dr. M. Slatton, Dr. L. Atkinson, and case manager Grace Reynolds were my doctors, friends, and most of all my rock. My therapist Dr. Slatton was there to help me with my problems and mental health. Always gave the right advice. Dr. Atkinson made sure that my meds were right for me. And case manager Grace Reynolds has made sure that I had everything I needed to get and always asked if there was anything that she can help me with even if it was food transportation. Always had her heart to help me in any of my needs. Overall, my five years experience at this facility which includes staffs and personnel, it was excellent. I am on first name basis with all staff. We LOVE Ms Judy. And now all my kids go and so do I. They are not judgmental and they also stay optimistic and understand that some children fib. Way to go... Some times if you have to cancel an appointment it takes a while to get another but if it is something like a diabetic ulcer, they will double book to get you in sooner. My father died in this facility in the Alzheimer award and 1999. They were so caring with him the last six months of his life. I lived In Smyrna at the time so I would come and see him about four or five days a week. My sister and my mother would come from Clarksville every other Saturday because of my mother‘s health she couldn’t do it very much, but it helped them that I was close by. We were so pleased with the care he got. Thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the VA 99% of them are great. My lower back pain, only because of his help, has been reduced by 80-90%. He doesn’t advocate for opiate use and/or dependancy! I’ve been going for 3 years and NEVER have I been offered or counseled to begin opiate prescriptions. I admire, respect, and enjoy treatment at this clinic.
