I was in for alcohol detox and I was there for 6 days and admitted myself.
It’s time to give praise where praise is due.
Staff by name:
Nate - RN this was one of the better nurses and he worked the night shift, there were several points when I was at an all-time low, especially at night. Nate took the time to sit down with me and make sure that I was OK every single time. He cares about his job and his patients and it clearly showed.
Zack - this gentleman worked in the CSU, he had an incredible personality and he is the gentleman that you would be working with at night if you were doing intake. Me and him had conversation for hours about working out, family, religion. as far as I understood it, he had achieved employee of the month of the month prior and there’s a very big reason. Zack was a massive part of being able to talk to me while my anxiety was so high. This gentleman deserves nothing but praise and probably a raise.
Nicole - she was a floor tech that also works nights, she’s a good worker and does what she needs to. She just seems to be very quiet and somewhat antisocial so she was not a good person to talk to however, you could see her work ethic and how she contributed to the facility.
Eric or Airwik - again, this is a floor tech. This gentleman deserves nothing but praise. He worked nights and days. He was very easy to talk too, me and him talked about his background for his native descent and we spoke about music. We had good conversation which is what is required for a lot of these patients.
Denise - Just awesome, thank you for being a support
Kody - this is a daytime floor tech, again sat down with me had excellent conversations and he ended up playing Uno with all of us patients several times over. He had an ability to connect with his patients and make him feel like a familiar friend. Kody deserves some of the highest praise as he gets somewhat intimate with his clients.
Andrea - registered nurse, this girl is a powerhouse of a woman. Her and I shared the same religious background and on the day of my release she did nothing but tell me the success that she saw for me. You can also tell that she goes to the gym; shared. She’s high energy and is very on the ball she had a way of sharing her positive energy which shared hope she was a significant part of my discharge her and I spoke for probably 30 minutes before I got discharged. She is intense a little bit loud, but absolutely a wonderful soul.
Julie - fantastic human being.
Austin - this gentleman is a part of CSU again the intake portion. Him and I spoke the first night for probably two hours when I was first admitted. Again, we spoke about religion general concepts, and Austin is an absolute nerd. He reads books every single day and he has card games and things like that. One thing that stuck out about Austin is that he is extremely intelligent and he would love to talk to you about almost anything. Me and him mostly spoke about God.
Bonnie - Bonnie was the cleaning lady over in the CSU unit. I believe she used to be a police officer. She’s a very intimidating woman, but she’s also extremely sweet if you’re just not a jerk. Around when I first got there in the CSU she showed me where the snacks and drinks were treated me like a human being.
Dave - this is another gentleman from the CSU, he’s usually quiet at first as he feels you out and what your temperament is but again after he knows that you’re not something that is a threat he’ll open up to you. Another gentleman that is highly intelligent.
Lastly
Robert - RN my first interaction with Robert was when I needed something from the nurses. When I tried to get his attention, he looked at me and shook his head and then look away from me, which was very dehumanizing. After that when he left the nurses cage, I tried to get his attention and he ignored me three times. This guy is terrible and as far as I understand it, most of the staff doesn’t even like him.

This place changed my life and quite possibly saved it as well. All the nurses were wonderful and in particular Kerry, Nate, Haven, Shavon, Heather, and Zac. The techs were amazing including Richard 1, Jay, Richard 2, Steph, Cody. I'm sure there are others I interacted with that were great as well that I'm forgetting. Both psych NPs were attentive and thorough and really cared! Both social workers Kenzie and Kat are some of the best people on this planet. They brought together the whole plan for me. Everyone on staff truly care about all of us patients and were extremely professional, efficient, and attentive. This place is a staple and much needed on the mountain, they serve our community in amazing ways. Thank you to everyone! Changepoint changed my life and will change yours too!

I finally got to see my husband today. After 2 days. I though his was at a different facility. My husband couldn't remember my phone number to call me so he asked one of the nurses to please check his phone number for my phone number and she did. She didn't have to everyone was so so nice when I first got there so excited to see him. I made him some food. An we ate snack's I brought. I just want to thank everyone to making me feel welcomed. Not one person was judgemental.... THANK U for the people that work in the evening. God bless you and your family's..

Dr. Lowe and staff do a fantastic job! Customer Service is fantastic. Nina and Kat will take good care of you when you call ahead to schedule an appointment. Their nurses, Cory and Angie, are very friendly and courteous and will provide you with professional services. If you are a veteran, give this place a try. Obviously, no one comes here (particularly the first time) when everything in his or her life is going perfectly and all of his or her hopes and dreams have just come true. If you find yourself in need of CMS you are probably at or below rock bottom. Furthermore, I would think it would go without saying that to be an employee of CMS or any similar business, one would have to be kind, patient, and understanding but as anyone who has ever been to the Cactus location will undoubtedly confirm, that isn't the case. I was at Cactus for less than one month, but have witnessed first-hand as well as through friends who have been going there for years, that nearly the entire staff at that location seem to hate their jobs only slightly less than they hate their clients. Rude, disrespectful, and in some cases what can only be described as intentionally cruel and bordering on sadistic was what I came to expect from CMS, until moving to this location on the corner of 23rd Avenue and Northern. Here, the opposite is true as I have witnessed all the best qualities humanity has to offer from nearly everyone on staff. This includes the receptionists at the front desk, through the nurses, providers and counselors, not only towards me but generally to all people who are the most in need of such compassion and yet are often the least likely to receive it from a society that has been taught to see people suffering this affliction and instead judge them to be undesirables, criminals, or worse. In particular, Bea at the front desk and Kaleen, my counselor need to be recognized. Even when surrounded by other people demonstrating the correct way to treat those in need of help and support, Bea and Kaleen manage to distinguish themselves with their empathy and warmth. If you should ever find yourself in need of a place like CMS, you will be hard-pressed to discover anywhere more welcoming and less judgemental. Neither will you find a staff more compassionate, nor are you likely to encounter people who more embody the traits we should honestly expect from everyone in a health care field. While it would be nice if services like this were no longer needed, I couldn't be more pleased to have found this CMS location at a point where I couldn't have needed them more.
Just one last thing to add. I noticed more 1-star reviews for this location than I would have expected. When I investigated this a little further, I discovered that all but two of the negative reviews were from at least six years ago and one of the two "newer" poor reviews was two years old. If you were swayed by the criticism, I hope you now believe (as I do) that the problems that apparently plagued this location were in the past. It truly does appear that they have taken the past critiques seriously, have addressed those issues, and now run a clinic with nearly perfect ratings. While I was initially distressed to see so many low scores after posting my honest, very flattering opinion of this CMS, especially after making the point that the kindness and compassion I witnessed wasn't only directed at me, I am relieved to learn that the overwhelming majority of those scores were from a time before I started coming here. I also now wonder if several or many employees moved from this location to Cactus five to seven years ago...

I’ve seen a lot of treatment centers come and go, but TLC in Mesa really stands out. The program is structured and holds you accountable, but there’s also genuine care behind the rules. The staff meets you where you’re at, and it’s clear they want to see people succeed.
They helped me not just with recovery, but with job readiness and life skills too. Housing was included while I was in outpatient, and that stability made a huge difference. If you’re serious about turning things around, this place can give you a real shot.
It’s not fancy or flashy, but it works and that’s what matters. I’d recommend TLC to anyone in Mesa or nearby who’s looking for solid support and real results in their recovery journey.

I started Modern Recovery’s virtual IOP the end of April 2025 for substance abuse and mental health and graduated July 2025 after my 12 week treatment plan.
I loved the group session and my facilitator Braedon was amazing. He asked questions that were thought provoking and made me feel things I’d been bottling down and helped with through “sitting in the suck”. I never felt judged by anyone and only felt a great amount of support by my peers.
My case manager and individual therapist were also amazing and supportive. The team they have is responsive, respectful, and just plain amazing.
I thought there was no hope for me. I’d done detox twice and a 30 day inpatient rehab. This program helped me change that outlook and I’m full of gratitude. I’ve used the tools they have given me numerous times to work through cravings or through bouts of anxiety and/or depression. I am 244 days sober today and thankful for every moment that I felt exhausted and overwhelmed and didn’t want to go to group but did.
If I could continue the course with new educational modules I 100% would. Take the chance. I questioned it at first but I’m forever thankful I did.

My experience with Modern Recovery was very helpful for my mental health journey. The therapists and case workers here genuinely care and I honestly don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t take this first step to take care of myself. They made the process easy, handled most of the paperwork which eased my anxiety and words cannot express how amazing Bobbi & Demesha are as a case worker and therapist. Modern Recovery was something I didn’t know I needed, but it changed the trajectory of my life and I’ll always be thankful for their IOP program and the people who helped along the way.

This place saved my life. Be forever grateful for it …No, I mean YOU should be EXTREMELY grateful for it! EXCELLENT STAFF GOOD PEOPLE! I have referred at least 100 people to Crossroads. Probably 10 went. Out of that 10, I betcha 10 of them are still sober! They taught me how to deal with things without getting loaded. I lost everything I owned and instead of dwelling on that they taught me coping skills and I’ve successfully completed and I’m off probation now. I would love to work there so I could help the next generation stay sober. God bless America peace on earth and Goodwill toward all of ManKind. We’re all gonna be alright.

I was lucky to be admitted here. I was on scholarship and had to fly in from Wisconsin. Chris B. Picked me up from the airport and brought me to what I consider to be my 2nd home. 10/1/2013 I started my journey. I hung on dearly to that "just for today" and it saved my life. I was provided the tools needed to become sober and this place helped me become the person I am today. Without it I wouldn't be the proud father of 2 Boys that can provide a happy healthy home nor would I be engaged with their mother. Thank you crossroads. You changed my life and I hope to get back to 1845 one day to see everyone.
