I’ve been bringing my son to Avita for years, and he’s worked with several different counselors. Until recently, it always felt like a struggle just to get him to go, and I honestly started to lose hope.
Since he’s been seeing Daniel, everything is different. My son actually looks forward to his sessions now, which is something I never thought I’d say. Daniel connects with him in a way no one else has, and the progress we’re seeing is real.
What I appreciate most is that Daniel doesn’t just focus on my son—he involves the whole family. He challenges me too, and has helped me recognize ways I can support my son better. Because of that, our relationship feels healthier and less like a constant fight.
If you’re a parent who’s been discouraged with counseling in the past, I can’t recommend Daniel enough.

My wife was flown in to the hospital from Stephen’s County hospital because as SCH said MGMC resources are more extensive. My wife was a hairs breath from death. A team of doctors, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center took her case , operated and took care of her heart problems that had just manifested itself while at SCH. These skilled doctors saved her life and restored her health.
I am very grateful to the team of doctors and nurses that kept watch over her for the whole time she was there, four weeks mostly in ICU.
In my opinion this is the place to go for fast, efficient and empathetic care.
I thank each one on the team and those that helped them with their work.

I wish I could give a “0” star. 1st off they have a “makeup rule system “ in place. In other words they make up rules and systems as they go. DIANE MULNER IS A HORRIBLE COUNSELOR. She Doesn’t LISTEN TO her patients and makes matters worse bc NOBODY WANTS TO ATTEND HER LAME “Group meetings”. So, since she’s “Unfortunately “ the 1st person to contact the doctors listens to her every word , which she’s a Liar and will make sure she makes you look bad for going through tough times in life. If you’re ready to be critically critiqued by folks .., Well GO IN TO 10 park place. This is the best place to feel less than as your Trying to be a better person in your life. lol. I am so glad that I don’t have to go there anymore. I’m now at a place where I’m NOT JUDGED BY “professional folks”. I’m actually LISTENED TO AND HEARD. This program literally saved my life from a long road of drug and alcohol abuse. I had a rough start due to my inability to accept the true issues associated with addiction. This was in the mid-90s where the Hickey House offered me the last chance to find true recovery. Tom and Eliane were like 2nd parents in a time when addiction had kicked my butt, but with their loving and amazing ability to get at the root of addiction in a strong spiritual and professional manner. My stay at the hickey house was awesome! A very down to earth and in tune approach to recovery that gave me the chance I desperately needed to rebuild myself in an environment that was both nurturing and structured with strong basis on AA traditions and principles. The house has a great reputation in the local community and is involved in many different surrounding outside AA meetings . The part I liked most about it was the personal and accessible level staff and residents communicate . My comfort level was through the roof ,which in return allowed me to thrive in my recovery . I don't see a better place available for a person to get the tools to get sober and remain sober. I'd most definitely recommend this place to anyone who IS SERIOUS about giving their selves a chance at happiness in sobriety

I don't have firsthand experience with treatment here but I can say this is the only place in Toccoa including the "health department" where people are unashamed to talk about HIV prevention and harm reduction. I also know that the staff here go through a lot standing for what they believe is right including police harassment and intimidation for running a program that is 100 percent legal.

I went here as a teenager back in 2015-2017 and it messed me up. Reagan told me that she would call CPS (based on what I told her about my home life) but they didn't care about people my age (I was 17 at the time) she also told me how horrible my mother was even though my mother was my only support system and reagan continued to project her hatred of her own bipolar mother onto my bipolar mother and then went on to tell me that she has to deal with 10 yr olds killing themselves so she was dealing with a lot. In addition, the psychiatrist at the time (a woman from India, dont remember her name) belittled me to the point of I stopped taking my medication, started cutting again, and felt generally unsupported and treated like a child. The fact that this sticks with me 6 years later should tell you something. Don't go here. They don't care about your wellbeing.

If you’re looking for a Christian-based program, this is one of the best places to consider.
From personal experience, I attended this program back in October 2016 at the age of 20. At that time, I had no direction or discipline in my life. Waypoint Ministry introduced me to both—and so much more.
During the first 30 days of the program, participants go through a “blackout period.” During this time, we weren’t allowed to exercise, as it allowed our bodies to recover from years of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle choices. After 30 days, we were allowed to begin exercising, which was a turning point for me.
It has now been eight years since I graduated from the program. I still stay in contact with the men I attended with, and I cherish the fellowship I experienced there. One of the most impactful parts of the program for me was working in the thrift store. It was a fantastic learning opportunity that taught me soft skills I still use today. Because of that experience, I now enjoy visiting thrift stores and looking for treasures, knowing how much thought and effort goes into sorting donations, stocking the storefront and clothing racks, and even selling items online.
Sadly, I’ve lost a couple of friends over the years because they chose to return to their old lifestyles. However, I’ve also witnessed countless examples of broken men entering the program and leaving as spiritual giants.
Waypoint Ministry opened doors for me to participate in missions trips, youth camps, and even spreading the gospel in prisons. As of 2025, I’m still sober and stay connected with a few people from Waypoint.
If you had told me years ago that my life would turn out this way, I wouldn’t have believed you. If I could sum up this program in one word, it’s love. I came to Waypoint broken and scared, but this place gave me the opportunity to slow down, examine my life and upbringing, and find peace.

Jane is amazing and welcoming and so is Heather. They always remember me and ask about my children, they even offer to watch my infant when I have to bring him for a minute or 2 while I dose. It’s just a small help that makes being a single mom and bringing him to the clinic a little less stressful. (I only come 2 times a month) but nonetheless they do everything they can to help, like every business it is a money making business though so there isn’t charity, you have to follow the rules and expectations and as long as you go by that you’re in & out.

The way up provides the support, structure and recovery education needed to foster change and healing. I’ve personally witnessed this program help someone move through being imprisoned by addiction for many years to freedom-the answer to a prayer he and I prayed more times than I could ever count. Roland and his staff seem to have a good balance of tough love and support that the men in the program need to gain accountability for their lives while also knowing they are not alone in what they are going through. This program played a huge part in his recovery and I’m thankful every day that he gets to experience life and our kids without the weight of addiction on his shoulders.

My husband went here for a drug/alcohol evaluation and the staff member Amanda Hardin is the one who talked with my husband and did the evaluation. Well we get the letter covering the evaluation. What it said was wrong information such as places and times. Inaccurate or just completely false information. The way it was written, was unprofessional, looking like a juvenile, wrote it. And the letter stating my husband is a raging alcoholic Which my husband doesn’t even like alcohol and never has and never even liked me drinking because he never likes the smell of it. I learned so much attending the classes at New Hope Counseling. Changing learned negative behaviors and re-evaluating your life can be very difficult, especially if you aren't ready to make a change or remove toxic people from your life. If you are truly ready to do the work and remove destructive people/behaviors from your life, I absolutely recommend enrollment in the classes. If you're not ready, yea don't waste your money.

Before I started going to Avita it was a struggle, even when I started it was still a bit of a struggle, but with the help of the councilors/Therapist I started to get my life and Mental health under control. Miss Christian has such a great attitude and she is very positive. She has been such a huge help in communicating with me about my appointments/scheduling and is also always making sure im aware of when my medications arive. Miss Noahea is an amazing listener and such a great counselor/Therapist. She has helped me Excell in handling mental health and has helped me reach many goals and so much more. Im currently a client on methadone that has moved from Ca. to Ga. It was spur of the moment with no time to make arrangements. I spoke with ERIC on Healthqwests csr dept based on New Jersey. Fyi. Ive been in tech supt, customer service, Quality Assurance & M.I.S. For over 30 yrs Ive worn a headset and have been helping customers. Ive ALWAYS gone above and beyond to help, which is why I can say that ERIC assessed my dilemma for what it was and did his best to move Heaven and earth for me to get me the help i needed 2 days ago. He had an entire queue to help and he took my case as personal as was needed to help me. Moving here I have to change my Medicaid to Ga. which is NOT ez or quick. And I, having heart disease and 5 stents in my heart from 2 heart attacks. Short version of of i didn't get help and go into withdrawl the strain on my heart would no doubt KILL me. The man devoted most of his day trying to get my situation straightened out. Im detailing this because I want you to know this was the BEST service ive ever received in my 60 plus years on this planet, and it happened when my literal life was on the line. Healthqwest cant be beat if you want genuine effort with your help. The prices are competitive but you can't go wrong using them.
Ill answer any question or comment too. The medication I take is no joke. I take it for a broken back I got when I was year ended on my motorcycle at a red light. I take it for Pain mgmt.
Its a serious subject and serious things happen with it....and more without it. Id be crippled, so you can see the magnitude of my plight.

So far it has been good I recently transferred in from another clinic they were very helpful the only thing I do not like is all medicaid recipients have to video call daily to take the dose in front of a nurse or else we are not covered by medicaid for that day. Which is a medicaid thing but thats the only difference from my last clinic

I graduated from the carter treatment center today.
I completed the PHP/IOP program and have 195 days sober now. I will be staying for aftercare to continue to work and focus on my recovery.
This program gave me the accountability and tools to be successful and live a life without drugs and alcohol. I am very grateful for the opportunity to come here and all the staff that was supportive and were a big part in my journey.

The one GREAT thing about the Oakwood VA Medical Clinic is the Department of Veterans Services Representative Pablo Cruz. Pablo Cruz is highly professional, really cares about Veterans and is very knowledgeable of how the VA Disability System works. It's wonderful to know there is someone connected to a VA Medical Facility that can be trusted. I've had so many frustrating experiences at the many VA Medical Facilities I've used since returning from Vietnam in 1970 and for the most part the Oakwood VA Clinic is filled with the same type of personnel you would expect to find at any VA Medical Facility, they're there for a paycheck, not to care for Veterans. A beautiful building with plenty of parking but until the VA Medical personnel can follow the EXAMPLARY Behavior displayed by Pablo Cruz, faith in the VA Medical System will never be restored. The only reason I would use the Oakwood VA Clinic is for seeking assistance from the Department of Veterans Services Representative Pablo Cruz. He is the only reason I'm giving this facility a 5 Star rating, if it weren't for Pablo Cruz, I'd rate this facility what I rate all VA Medical Facilities, ZERO.

Freedom was a great choice for my detox. The staff are all very kind, caring, helpful. The nurses are great as well! Food is good! Large portions! Gained 6lbs! AAmeetings every evening from visiting AA members. Two other groups a day run by staff. Crafts, games and books are available. Rooms are clean. Only negative comment I can make is that showers could be cleaner. Bring flip flops. I stayed for 7 days. Had a great group of other alcoholics/addicts. I highly recommend Freedom Recovery.
