She befriended "Will" long before he was willing to seek help. He was never alone in life because she checked on him regularly and gently coaxed him into getting the help that he desperately needed. Approximately 7 months after reaching out, Will made the decision to better his life by accepting Peggy's offer of help. Once his decision was made, Peggy instantly started moving mountains to get him the help he needed. She was in daily contact with his family offering her advice, supplying helpful contact information, and even talking him through his fears when they became too great and he wanted to run. As a result of Peggy's unrelenting quest to help Will, he has received a Certificate of Completion from the Midwood Addiction Program where he received counseling, housing, a sense of community, independence, and gradually took control of his life again. A little over a month after graduating, Will has found employment and is ready to start this new healthy chapter in his life. When asked if he ever talks to Peggy anymore, the answer is "yes! she's full of valuable resources.". How do you thank someone who has saved the life of someone you thought was lost forever? I had some bumps along the way until I met Evie Dillard. She was so helpful to me by giving me extra resources to get ready to exit treatment. Shamar Marquis 1 year ago Lemme tell you about the housing situation 1st. I read the good reviews and the horrible and the bad kinda concerned me. I can tell you the bad was not only exaggerated but most just someone salty and spreading total BS. There are no rodents and I've never been to a house that had zero bugs not even a fly before I got here, not even my father's house. Ok so these 2 floor some with a upper smoking/ lounge deck are nice nice! 4 bedroom 3 full double sink bathrooms , two with walk-in shower , I bath / shower and a half bath by living room. It's fully stocked with any pans coffee pot anything you need. The staff are some of the nicest ppl and you absolutely get to know them. You are treated pretty much how you treat them. Just be kind! Midwood center was the one I went to and the staff there are always awesome. If you need something just speak up, I've seen ppl come through and expect everyone to be mind readers. I would list everyone I love at Harmony but I'm horrible with names but there are standouts. Christine, Crystn (sik). Byron,Lisa, Miss Gail ( Amber always pushing DBT therapy 😬) Bobby, the tech who's name escapes me that calls everyone "Big Dog) And Lastly but firstly Miss Peggy who is the sweetest person I've ever met and she saved my life just by getting to know me calling my phone to talk to someone else. She had my back and actually drove to Salvation Army and helped me get insurance, talked me into Salvation Army in first place and bought my broke ass two packs of smokes She is absolutely a gift from God and deserves to be the highest paid at Harmony! As long as you are willing to put the work in you will see results. The staff is patient, kind, knowledgable, and truly cares about your well being and recovery. Everyone is welcome here from all ages and walks of life. I felt safe, supported, and encouraged here as a person of color with a unique immigrant & cultural background, and as a member of the LGBT community. The therapy incorporates several modalities, including DBT, CBT, Somatic, and Art. The staff made learning skills accessible, engaging, and actually interesting. I appreciated being challenged and I learned skills I hope to keep for life. Working with the somatic therapist they have at Pasadena was beyond amazing. A once in a lifetime experience that I could not have thought to even ask for. I loved the art therapy as well. There is also processing time two-three times a week with the group, and therapists are always available if you need extra one on one support. I really appreciated that unlike other places, Pasadena does not let any one patient dominate the entire processing time. Staff makes sure that everyone who wants to share has equal time and space, that no triggering details are discussed, and that it is supportive without going on forever or taking time away from skill learning or other groups. Shout out to my therapist Shawna for being amazing, as well as Keyonte for his calm kind supportive energy, Carly for always being engaging and encouraging and validating of my background, and Julia for being awesome and sweet! Felicia is an incredible therapist. She is knowledgeable, supportive, and great at creating a group environment that feels both safe and accountable. She gives you practical tools and skills while also knowing how to get the group engaged and talking. Gianni was also always welcoming and helpful at the front desk. I really appreciated having an evening option that works for people with 9-to-5 jobs. My only suggestion would be to better accommodate evening participants with dinner or more substantial snack options, similar to the daytime programs. After a full workday, it’s a big commitment to attend several hours of programming, and having food available would make it easier to stay focused and present. The difference in Mcleod and otherr clincs is Mcleod is really set up to help you succeed. If you come to people as people and treat the staff with respect and understanding, they will do the same for you. I have dosed at the other clinic in Gastonia before I came to Mcleod and I prefer Mcleod 100 percent. Staff really does care here about your life and your recovery. Abby is wonderful and will do whatever she can to help you if you have a problem, the nurses are all nice and polite, the front desk ladies are always friendly and smiling (even at 5 am), my counselor is great, and the peer support staff (Karen) is wonderful as well. So like the other review said, " you get what you put in,." If you want to have a better quality of life and become and maintain your soberity, go to Mcleod, they have everything there to help you get where you need. But what I can say, is this, There is a counselor named Keith if you were a seasoned addict and you need genuine counselor, I want you to request Keith. This man has been in my life for 10 years, and as I came back-and-forth between clinics, he always became my counselor again. Never judgmental, Always always rational and you can’t help but to put a smile on your face when you’re around him his aura, It is purple. And I’m telling you right now he is a blessing to this place. The program director is also a counselor that has been there for a while and moved her way up. She is also fair and a sweetheart tells me to have a good morning every day. The financial person that does insurance she will work with you as long as you are doing for yourself and trying to make a better way for yourself they will help you.
