Very helpful in many areas concerning mental health.
Having an outside ear to bend is at times easier than talking to someone in your circle.
Have learned to deal with my Anxiety, PTSD, and associative disorder.
Some things that those close to me just really couldn’t understand.
Have been to some of the group sessions and those have been very helpful on many levels.
I have recommended this place to others. I don’t know if any of them have taken that first step or not.

The staff were phenomenal. They were empathetic.
Knowing what patients have gone through in life did not affect their professionalism or their morals. I truly appreciated that. I would recommend this hospital to any and everyone. I pray they get an adolescent wing.
There were groups that motivated us to think outside the box. Mindful exercise to open our mind, heart and spirit
There were spiritual groups to help us grow inside, look to/for a higher power. My higher power is God. They knew that and they were accommodating with it all. There were groups to help grow in patience and giving ourselves grace...We are human not computers but we are able to reset, step back,
start again...the next minute, next day. One day at a time. It's ok🥹
.P.S. Austin, you're great, no matter what. I'll also be praying for you to receive a bonus $$ real soon🤜🏾 and make sure you send me half of it😊 (inside joke)

I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for the incredible support I received from Unison. After experiencing an accident, I had to join a program while also managing communication with the court — a very stressful time in my life. Thankfully, my consultant Chyna was with me every step of the way. She went above and beyond, offering guidance, encouragement, and all the resources I needed.
I also want to recognize Mrs. Gaston, whose warmth and kindness lifted me during one of my lowest moments. Her support made a huge difference, and I’ll never forget the role she played in helping me through.
I’m currently working with Bruce, and he’s been great — professional, understanding, and consistent.
Thank you to everyone at Unison. Your dedication and compassion truly changed my life. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Here's something I wrote on my last night in res:
Treatment has been one of the best things for me. Three months ago, I was a shell of a human. I don't recognize the person she was. And I don't want to. She was miserable and just didn't know it yet. I was the girl who argued this was fun. But when I went to treatment, a whole new world opened up for me. I had the chance to be seen by people who not only understood me, but understood how to help. I had the chance to learn, to grow, and to make mistakes. For the longest time, I was in and out of behaviors, trying to fight the process. But one day, I stopped fighting it. So what if I eat food? So what if I don't look like I want? Who cares? You only live this life once, why spend it flirting with death? That's the type of shit I hated hearing, but now? These are things I can not only say, but believe.
I never wanted to get better. I never wanted to come here, but I did. I did and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Everyone thinks residential is some scary place where they force food down your throat and all the clients stab each other in the back whenever they can, but it doesn't have to be that way. I learned how to make friends. I made the strongest connections with the sweetest people who hurt just as deeply as I did. We talked, we joked, we laughed, we held each other accountable, and we cried when they left. Your support system is so important. If you can't do it for yourself yet, do it for those in the milieu.
Listen to the staff, listen to your therapists. They gave me my life back. When I look back now, I don't understand myself. I don't understand the girl who wanted nothing more than to shrink. That's not living. I wasn't living. I was dying. I just didn't want to admit it, even at my sickest. I don't know why I thought that was the only way life could be. Life is so much more than that when food isn't the enemy or when food isn't your only way of communication. I never thought I could do it. I never thought I could get better. I never thought I'd leave the cycle. But I did.
I'm not done recovering. I still have a long way to go. Maybe I will never stop recovering. But that doesn't sound so scary anymore. It really doesn't. I'll always have thoughts, but now I know what it's like to have something good in life. There's more to life than suffering. And that's beautiful. I never thought I'd get the point that I'm at today. But I did.
I have made so many friends, learned so many things, and had so many amazing experiences.
So, I'm sitting here, the night before I leave residential, crying. Not crying because I'm sad or upset, but crying because I'll miss this place. The experiences, both good and bad, my friends who I will miss dearly, and the staff that coached me and comforted me. While leaving may be scary and I'm leaving so much behind, the biggest thing I'm leaving behind is my eating disorder. And that's powerful. Seeing myself three months ago, I did the impossible. I'm leaving Residential. And while there are many mixed emotions, the most important, I'm feeling hopeful. I'm feeling confident that everything will be okay, and food really isn't as bad as it might seem. So take it from me, or don't. That's your choice. But you know what else is your choice? Recovery. And recovery IS possible. For anyone, whether you believe it or not. I didn't believe I could recover, I wasn't even sure if. I wanted to. But look at where I am now. I'm doing the impossible, because maybe "impossible" isn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I cannot express how much this place has done for me in the past few months. Aster Springs Ohio, doesn't just heal you externally, but also deep down internally. The facility itself is so welcoming. There are comfy chairs, sofas, and beds that make you feel right at home. And when you feel homesick, your treatment team and the staff will try anything to make you feel better. There are connection calls you can make at night, and every week there's some kind of outing, such as the library or the movies. When I first came, my expectations were extremely low, but for my first residential program, I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike some other programs, Aster Springs focuses on community and branching out to others for guidance, instead of the primary focus of restoration. I will say this: the food here is very tasty. I recommend the hot pastrami sandwich as well as one of the DCS's homemade pizzas. I love how in Aster Springs, everyone has a say in what they want, and you will never be unacknowledged. All of the DCS staff and RCS staff are very pleasant to talk to, especially when you are feeling low one day and your treatment team isn't available. Another thing I love about Aster Springs is the diversity of treatment from adolescents to adults. As an adolescent client, I felt like the treatment was guided towards teens, and the adult treatment was guided towards adults. I admit, hyping yourself up to go to residential isn't the easiest thing, but Aster Springs is so worth it. Recovery is so worth it. I am grateful for how they make you focus on recovery, and not numbers, by covering up labels and things like that. Whoever needs a supportive, caring, inclusive, specialized, and talented community to support their recovery, Aster Springs Ohio, is the way to go. Shoutout to Dietitian Trish and Therapist Kam for being the best treatment team ever, and helping me when things got rough. And thanks to all the DCS staff, especially you, Elena, for making such preferred food and making me smile. Thanks to Kelsey for hosting the most amazing groups, and thanks to Abbey and all the nursing staff for making sure that we're all comfortable during this process. Lastly, thank you to the entire Aster Springs staff for healing the part of me I didn't know was possible, and I would definitely recommend this facility! (past patient #thatpower)
