As a parent, placing your child in residential treatment is one of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make. The entire staff at Embark made that process so much easier by treating both Mason and our family with kindness, compassion, and respect every step of the way. I probably sent far more texts and emails than most parents, constantly checking in and asking questions, yet not a single person ever made me feel like I was being a burden. Every message was answered promptly, every concern was taken seriously, and I always felt heard. What stood out most was how genuinely invested everyone was in Mason. From the treatment team and residential staff to the front desk, every single person took the time to truly know him. He wasn’t just another resident, he was Mason. They learned his personality, celebrated his successes, encouraged him through his struggles, and built relationships that made him feel safe, supported, and valued. Communication throughout his stay was exceptional. The team consistently kept us informed, responded quickly, held appointments as scheduled, and welcomed us during family visits. We always knew they wanted what was best for Mason, and that gave us tremendous peace of mind. Mason spent 64 days at Embark, and the growth we saw in that short time was nothing short of remarkable. He came home more patient, more present, more thoughtful, and with skills that will continue to help him long after treatment. We know his journey isn’t over, but Embark gave him a foundation that we truly believe changed the course of his life. There simply aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to every single person who played a role in Mason’s care. I recommend it as we have tried so many places and this one was the only one that works. Kathleen Lafleur 2 months ago I was terrified about the decision for my son to attend Embark in Benton. But I knew on the first day that he would be safe and valued, just based on how patient they were with him through the onboarding process. Throughout his time there, they saw his good through his pain and anger. They worked with him and me to teach us new ways. The place itself was beautiful and my son spent so much time in his happy place of nature. When things were very hard for him, they communicated with me and never gave up. The residential staff are God-sent people. I loved that turnover was so low, that I really knew all the staff by the end of the process. They were familiar and comforting during family visits. ALL the staff - care coordinator, Jaime, Chris, Jake, the nurses, the therapist team, Nathan, residential coaches - were consistently compassionate, communicative, and provided quality, individualized treatment for my family. I just called as a first time patient attempting to make an appointment, and after having the worst experiences at so many separate places, had almost given up hope... I had pretty poor expectations after seing the stars on google, but I called today, the Athens number, and transferred to someone for first appointments. I had the best and most hopeful experience in trying to get help my entire adult life. I talked to them for 30 minutes, and explained way more than they asked or I should have, but they just stayed so patient and kind. It was truly a different experience, and left me feeling positive and hopeful towards my induction telecomm interview tomorrow. I brought my son to Smoky Mountain Lodge from Texas, with very few options and little understanding of what to expect. Although our journey had its challenges and wasn't always a smooth ride, my son came out of the experience in a better place, with greater clarity and a healthier outlook. The staff at Smoky Mountain Lodge genuinely care about their patients, and that made a difference to our family. They also offer a wonderful family support group that provides guidance, encouragement, and a place to ask questions during what can be an incredibly overwhelming and emotional time. Having that support helped us navigate the unknown and better understand how to support our son. My biggest concern was communication. At times, responses were slower than I would have liked, which was difficult as a parent so far away from my child. However, I also recognize that the staff are caring for many patients and have a tremendous responsibility. Whenever I was able to connect with a staff member, they were courteous, compassionate, and genuinely tried to answer my questions and provide the information I needed. One important piece of advice for other parents: Make sure you have the appropriate Releases of Information (ROIs) completed and in place as early as possible. These are essential for allowing staff to communicate with you about your loved one and provide updates, within the scope of the authorizations. Overall, I am grateful for the care my son received and for the support our family was given during such a difficult chapter of our lives. My counselor’s name was Sofia. She worked with me several times a week for a little over a month. She’s by far the best counselor I’ve ever had. She helped me work past my mother’s death and help me get to the route of my addiction issues. The staff here genuinely cares about you. They will go above and beyond. Sofia fought so hard for me in every situation, she never gave up on me. I’ve never had someone in my corner so much that wanted me to succeed in every way.
