I came here at a very low point in my life so I wasn't expecting a whole lot..they were going thru a transition at the time but they were trying to make the process work. The staff were the absolute best though. Cindy Kendra, Kate jj were the high point of my stay. Starr in that kitchen had me always anticipating something good she would be putting together. DPR was truly an amazing experience. They genuinely care about you and your recovery journey. Lucus pours his heart into this place and it shows. Cindy, TJ and JJ were extremely supportive and personable. The nurses, Amanda, Kenya, Bradie, and Kate were so kind and helpful. And of course Drew and Star were a highlight with the awesome food they prepared and had really great insight. It is truly a gem in the recovery community.

In the 33 days I spent there I was given time to medically detox, fed delicious and nutritious food, taught the nature of my addiction in scientific terms, given one on one therapy, given the option to attend wellness activities such as yoga and was provided time with a personal trainer to work on regaining my strength. We enjoyed the on facility pool, team building exercises with the other residents and even had movie time once a week. I also was able to take advantage of a virtual reality session that prepared me for being exposed to my DOC in a safe environment and allowed me a one on one session with an expert trained in exposure therapy. This allowed me to see how physiologically my body will respond to triggers and therefore gave me much better ability to prepare for returning to my life outside of the center. The residental staff is caring, compassionate and friendly. The therapists were knowledgeable, present and available when I needed them. The 12 step team taught a comprehensive program that broke down the literature in a way that was easy to grasp. The kitchen staff provided fantastic meals. The rooms were kept clean daily and provided me with my own private balcony-a beautiful place to begin and end my days, reflecting on the many thoughts that addicts ponder during treatment. I look forward to continuing my treatment there with the PHP program and intend to complete my IOP at this location as well. I was given such great care that I wanted to ensure continuity of treatment throughout all the steps of my treatment program. Highly recommend to anyone who's ready to change their life.

Miss Courtney was wonderful with my son, Noah Redfearn. Within a week we saw many positive changes. He has gone through so many wonderful transformations since being in her care. The time when she was out of the office, he said, “I like the other therapist, her boss, but I want my Miss Courtney back’”. She really has been a blessing for him, by the grace of God.

Burning Tree Ranch truly changed my family’s life. My sister attended the program over a decade ago, and she has been sober ever since. She has built an incredible life for herself, she has a beautiful family, strong relationships, and is truly happy. I am so grateful for the role this program played in her recovery. It gave her the tools and support she needed to not just get sober, but to stay sober. My family and I will forever be grateful for that!

Recovered and Free provides peer-driven residential addiction recovery for men in Hubbard, Texas. Their mission is to walk alongside men in recovery through lived experience, fellowship and spiritual growth,
I have waited a month to compose a review of Recovered and Free. I wanted to see how my son reacted to sober living in the "real world" after 2 1/2 decades of chaos. I can tell you that Recovered and Free , returned to me, a healthy male adult. A man, willing to help and be a productive and resourceful member of society. He found housing at a sober living facility in Waco, and without transportation or a pocket full of money, he found work through a "temp" agency that embraced the newly sober individual. For the first time in his life he has become self supporting. He is able to navigate AA meetings, a full day's work AND his laundry. His reaction to adversity is now sane and organized, instead of "let's burn it ALL down". Recovered and Free has the goal of producing "sober gentlemen", and they DID that. My son signed on for 90 days. As he neared the end of his time there, he had a bad day and was packing to leave in anger and frustration. Given some time alone, and a little help from Colin, he made a decision to stay another month instead, and that corner was turned. That night the light came on and the difference was made. He accomplished a lot in the extra month after starting his 12 steps over AGAIN. He now knows accountability, honesty, and self worth. He knows that hard work comes with rewards. He knows the value of nutrition and a good night's sleep. He IS a sober gentleman. I cannot say enough good things about this male based facility, teaching men their value, their responsibilities to family and community. This program is EFFECTIVE. I made my first call to Recovered and Free well after midnight. Don picked up the phone, gave me an honest appraisal of what was expected from a new client and their family, and then explained their pricing. (After 2 "privileged" rehabs, I was a little gun shy). Everything was doable, and we drove my son 385 miles from jail to Hubbard. The rest remains to be seen. Thank you Colin, Don, and all the others. You did a GOOD job.

My experience at Hickory Trail this time around has been night and day compared to my first experience here three years ago. I’m currently participating in the IOP/PHP program by self admission, and I honestly wasn’t expecting such a significant difference, but it truly feels like a completely different hospital. I also want to point out that many of the negative reviews you may see online appear to reflect the old management and a previous staff. That is not the experience I am having at all. Hickory Trail is under new management, and from what I have personally experienced, it is a whole new hospital with different leadership, different staff, and a completely different atmosphere. And I have to give a special shoutout to Steph K. She is absolutely phenomenal. She creates a space where I feel heard, respected, challenged, and genuinely cared for. She knows how to meet you where you are while still encouraging you to do the work. I genuinely look forward to seeing her and participating in group, which says a lot about the environment she has created. I actually love going to the hospital every day. I voluntarily signed up for six weeks, and that alone should tell you how different this experience has been for me. If you are researching Hickory Trail and are hesitant because of some of the older reviews, I would encourage you to look at the dates and consider that the hospital has gone through significant changes. My experience is based on the current management, current staff, and current program. For me, this is not the same Hickory Trail I experienced three years ago. It feels like a whole new hospital, and so far, I am incredibly grateful for the difference.

I’m Melles daughter, Bella K. I got out on July 1st!! I truly cannot say enough good things about Sundown Ranch. Going there was one of the best experiences of my life, and I’m beyond grateful for everything I learned and everyone who helped me along the way. The staff made such a huge impact on me. Lacy, Jordan, Jason, Patricia, and Delaney were all incredibly caring, supportive, and genuine. They always took the time to listen, encourage us, and remind us that we were capable of so much more than we believed. They created an environment where I felt safe, understood, and motivated to keep growing every day. I especially want to recognize Judy. I know some people might see her as strict, but after being there, I truly understand why. Judy wasn’t strict because she wanted to be mean—she was strict because she genuinely cared about us. She made sure everyone followed the rules, stayed on track, and avoided getting into trouble with the higher-ups. She held us accountable because she wanted us to succeed, not because she wanted to make our lives harder. Looking back, I appreciate her so much for that. Sometimes the people who care the most are the ones willing to tell you what you need to hear instead of what you want to hear. She always wanted the best for every single kid there, and I have so much respect for her because of it. I also want to mention the ITU (the Intensive Treatment Unit), because I know people sometimes leave reviews that make it sound like a punishment for no reason. In my experience, that’s simply not true. It is genuinely hard to end up in the ITU. You don’t get sent there over something small—you have to make a serious choice that goes against the program or the rules. Most people are only there for around 24 hours, or until they are able to honestly acknowledge what they did and take accountability. That may sound tough, but learning to accept responsibility for your actions is one of the most important lessons we can learn in life. The ITU isn’t there to shame kids; it’s there to help them reflect, calm down, and get back on track. Looking back, I can see that the structure and accountability were there because the staff truly wanted every one of us to succeed. Sundown Ranch gave me so much more than just treatment—it gave me hope, life skills, lifelong memories, and people who truly believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. The staff didn’t just do their jobs; they changed lives, and I’m living proof of that. If you’re considering Sundown Ranch for yourself or someone you love, I can honestly say it was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. The people there care deeply about the kids they serve, and every rule and every expectation exists for a reason. Thank you to Lacy, Jordan, Jason, Judy, Patricia, Delaney, and everyone else at Sundown Ranch for your patience, compassion, and dedication. I will always be grateful for everything you did for me and for helping me become a stronger, healthier version of myself.

I can't recommend this place enough! I was very nervous to send my daughter here after reading all of the reviews, but she had a very positive experience. Her two favorite counselors were Jason and Jennifer. Jason was phenomenal about keeping in contact with me and during our family sessions. You can tell he truly cares and I can't thank him enough. I didn't get to speak with Jennifer until I picked her up, but my daughter has bragged about how she was truly there for her and helped her turn her life around. The rest of the staff were very nice and helpful as well. We are both so thankful for the entire experience and all of their help.

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is located in Desoto, Texas. It provides comprehensive care to adolescents, adults, and the elderly who are living with mental health struggles, drug addictions, and other issues impacting their health and well-being. Care is provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings and is dependent on the type of pro
I was sent here involuntarily per the court. I was supposed to stay 5-7 days but with the new years holiday and a couple of weekends I was there a little longer. The facility places you in units based on your needs and diagnosis. I was in unit one for my duration so I can’t speak to any of the other units and what happens there. I was terrified coming in having not ever being at a facility like this before I had no idea what to expect. When I came in it was night and I heard some yelling and cursing that added to my anxiety. I am from a somewhat affluent suburb and had only seen places like this in the movies. Unit one was made up of men and women. That also made me apprehensive. There are two people to a room. Which consists of two single beds two bookcases and a bathroom. Everything had been well thought out as far as safety measures. There is a common room where everyone can socialize if they want to. All of this is supervised by the techs and other staff which gave me a huge sense of security. There is a schedule for waking up, getting vitals, medication, meals, gym, group therapy ( which was done by Carmen) shout out to Carmen she was really helpful in so many ways! Also on the schedule was hygiene and bedtime. I’m not a scheduled person and like to stay up late and sleep in. By the end of the stay I had learned to appreciate the schedule and am trying to stick to one now that I am at home. I can not say enough about how wonderful the staff on Unit 1 was. I could list names but it would be too many and I’m really bad at names and remembering them. The nurses were amazing and really took prided in their work and it showed. The techs made up the rest of the staff on the floor and they do so many things from doing 15 minute rounds for 12 hours to handling meal service being there to lend an ear. Being silly sometimes to lighten the mood and bring laughter. Kanard I’m speaking about your little happy dances. Sheena and Mary were like the mothers we didn’t have in there. Brittany the protective big sister who you could tell anything to and Dylon and big Rod I’m sure that’s his name but if not the big part will ensure that you know whom I’m speaking of. They were all very empathetic to our situations and just so very good to have in our unit. That was probably my one complaint. I would have liked to have had more healthy food options especially fresh fruit. I did ask for some and I got an orange that they had cut up the way that moms do. I feel that above and beyond given their workload so shout out kitchen staff. I know I’m going to leave out people by names because I’m bad at remembering them but I will never forget Charles and Ezeck the two nurses that really looked out for everyone’s health and well being Like I said Unit one is exactly where I needed to be at that point in my situation and time. To sum it up amazing morning and nighttime staff on Unit one. Areas that need improvement - healthier food options -opportunities for a variety of physical exercise- maybe an instructor led yoga class if for nothing else but stretching and breathing exercises. - daytime activities aside from tv. I really would have appreciated a book to read or a chore- just something to do. - lastly I was not as all impressed with the Doctors I had and the ones I observed. They were focused on medication but not what got us there or the help we needed. A lot of the times they were very dismissive to the patients. I was sent to this hospital to get better but they really offered no counseling at all. I mean at all. The only therapy we got was from Carmen and again she was awesome but it was in a group and not necessarily suited to individual needs so they really need counselors!!! Healthy food Opportunities for physical exercise. Counselors More mentally stimulating options like I said even a book or a crossword puzzle would help during the hours of boredom. I hope the powers that be read this and give the recognition this staff deserves!! PS they love food…wink wink.

My daughter stayed here for a week, and the intake process was excellent. I want call her name, but there was a lady who prayed with my daughter. I thank you so much. They made me feel at ease. It was hard leaving her there, but she needed help. She was extremely nervous at first, but she quickly grew comfortable. She liked her therapist and really enjoyed the group therapy sessions. She also connected with other patients she could relate to. The nurses were very helpful and took the time to explain the process and how everything worked. I was able to speak with the staff whenever I needed to, and they were always supportive. You must follow their policy and procedure. My daughter wanted to stay for the 10-day program, so it helped her. She’s not completely cured yet, but the foundation has been set. I just need continued follow-up and support through the outside resources they provide. There were a few things I didn't like. It can be replaced.

Even after recently moving and having other clinics much closer to my new home, I willingly choose the longer commute because I have never found another clinic that cares for the mind, body, and soul the way LSC does. The staff at Life’s Second Chance is truly exceptional—compassionate, understanding, and deeply committed to each patient’s overall well-being. They don’t just focus on treatment; they genuinely invest in helping people heal and rebuild their lives from every angle. Accessibility is another major strength. Whether by personal vehicle or the DART line, the clinic is easy to reach, making it practical for those committed to their recovery journey. What truly sets LSC apart is the abundance of resources they provide for lasting sobriety and healthy living. They go beyond the basics, offering meaningful support that empowers patients to grow, recover, and thrive. For anyone seeking treatment, I can confidently say Life’s Second Chance isn’t just another clinic—it’s a place of real healing and transformation. Their whole-person approach is unlike anything I’ve encountered, and that’s why they continue to earn my trust and loyalty despite the extra distance.

This is one very thorough place they helped me out by explain to me what my proper diagnosis was went to Athens facility in Texas and I met a doctor named Furlong I hope they say his name properly cuz he is one excellent physician in this field of psychiatry there's only one issue and I didn't do something properly during my visit with him but I hope to clear the air fully but I get to go through the experience again they also have another wonderful office in Canton Texas don't hesitate just make sure you have all programs before you start your treatment so because there suddenly away there's any cost involved that because of the overwhelming caseload for professional psychiatric treatment so be patient add paperwork ready remember the human beings like us working with artificial intelligence and they do the best they can so sometimes they might say something a patient Ed clinical staff have to work together to get a real diagnosis improper treatment so don't have fear trying to have an open mind the medical professionals of today because they're doing the best I can do to perform the best job they can for people like us and may be blessed with realization of care and now I realize that I can't deal with this by myself without proper treatment so I'm going back in to try again and I hope I keep my mind open and sharp okay will you do the right thing
