Crossville MBTC is hope. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is made up of broken people that have surrendered their lives to the only One that can change us and want to pour out what the Lord has blessed us with. The teachers are pastors and other strong believers who want to share the love of Jesus and the knowledge of His word and the hope that that produces. The community is supportive and loving. This is where I met Jesus. This is where my old self died. This is where my life really began.

If you are reading this then you are probably where we were about 2 months ago.....terrified, on the worst roller coaster, worried, not knowing what the next day or night will hold and not knowing what to do. I cannot express how grateful we are to The Forge School for bringing the light back into our son's eyes. Our son spent 45 days at Embark at Benton (The Forge School) with no screens, no electronics, experiential, group and family therapy, tons of time outdoors. He has completely transformed from the inside out...calm, responsible, engaged. The young man that came home to us was the best version of our teenage son that we have ever seen. He didn't even want his phone when he returned. He felt the effects of dopamine addiction. He sees how all of that has been affecting his brain and his mental health. He has a new "normal," he knows what joy and happiness feels like. For a kid who has struggled with anxiety/depression since he was 12/13, this is huge. I have a million things to rave about Benton, but a few highlights are...med management. Any parent dealing with ADHD, depression, anxiety etc knows that getting the right combo of meds is long, frustrating and tedious. The psych on staff at Benton could make minute changes in meds daily, to get them on the right combo. Amazing, bc when we are managing it out here, you see a doc every 6 weeks, maybe, and they are making changes based on our own, uneducated, observations. Everyone there from the maintenance man, to the chef to the clinical director has the same training. They all see different sides of your child, 24/7 and meet weekly to "put the puzzle together." A kid can show one side of themselves to a therapist and hide other stuff. But they can't do it 24/7, so they really get a true picture of what is going on. There are enough "coaches" around that if a kid is having a hard time, someone can step out with them without disrupting the rest of the group. His therapist, Ed, was amazing. He had quick breakthroughs with him that made an enormous impact. Complete immersion in nature for that time is beneficial in more ways than I can ever describe. He has new hobbies, new interests and is looking towards the future for the first time with hope. He's been home for 2.5 weeks now, and I have purposefully waited to write my review until the "newness" wore off....he's still a teen, struggling with normal teen things, but it's back to "just" the normal teen things, which is an enormous relief. There have been a few "situations" since he got home. Situations that, previously, would have escalated rapidly into yelling, running away, self-harm etc. But the way he handled and approached them after Benton was completely different than how he would have before. He used the skills and tools he learned at The Forge to handle things very differently (and positively.) We are so, so grateful. If you are considering Embark Benton for your son, this is truly a gem.

The staff at Embark are so caring and knowledgeable. They take the time to get to know each kid and find ways to help them. Between medicine, groups, individual therapy, school, healthy food and nature your kid is safe and well cared for. Embark made a very difficult time in our lives more manageable. They helped my child and our family without judgement.
