Matr isnt a ordinary rehab program ..although 12 step program is in the curriculum it is a small portion of the rehabilitation process ...the staff and counselors have all been patients or in recovery themselves. When first walking thru the door u feel as if u just got to ur favorite aunt or relatives house u would visit yearly..you know the ones who never judged u but always made sure u knew when u were * !@&? Up and gave u wisdom and advice to get thru it..jeanie is the sweetest REALEST people ive ever met..no matter the issue if ur genuine and u give 116% she will have ur back and shes saved alot of lives .kept alot of people from dying ,and serving life sentences in prison.shes known world wide and people listen when she speaks..hasnt been like that always if u know her story.but she spoke up for recovery addiction and other important issues and has gotten alot of laws and bills passed.you work with horses the environment is beautiful..not to mention the mind body and soul work ..its amazing what you learn..this is where u want to be if you want to change ur life..and u can smoke cigarettes .lol..

I was nervous to go here because of the reviews. But once I did, I did NOT regret it. The ladies at the desk were super nice and patient when the need for rescheduling or anything else arose. The counselor I see is awesome and not judgemental which is very important when in this industry and has been hard to find in the medical field in Utah not being an LDS member. Give them a chance. They have more than one counselor if the first doesn't work. I've also got my son into counseling here and I think he will do very well.

I had two of my children seen there for several months. Recovery was not on a slow, we need money basis like I've felt at other clinics. Through the years I've had one of my 10 children go to 6 different clinics for one thing or another while dealing with death, divorce, blending family and other things and our experiences here were top of the centers.

The facility is beautiful and maintained very well. I came here feeling like I had changed into a person I wasn t proud of after experiencing intense traumas throughout life, I am leaving feeling lighter and brighter and much more like the best parts of myself. The chefs are great and accommodating at all times, my therapist Kevin helped me through things I didn t think were things I could work through. The techs Chay, Natalie, Chelsea, and Kailea are full of kindness and will make you feel at home and secure. On the negative side I do think the program lacks consistent communication at times which can be triggering, to be told one thing and it ends up being different.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for ARDU and all they have done for my family. Most of all, I am beyond grateful for Chandler. We were feeling so lost but she walked us through every step with such patience and kindness. My husband had about 2 weeks between his detox and the ability to start his recovery due to insurance. Chandler would check in on him and be an amazing support. To us, this is what it was all about. Being treated as humans with real empathy and understanding. HIGHLY recommend ARDU!

I would give Maple Mountain health and wellness 10+ stars if I could! Going there was the best thing I have ever done for myself in my whole life. I highly recommend this facility for anyone dealing with trauma. The modalities of therapy offered were life-changing. I learned many new life skills, and have tools to bring home as I continue my healing and recovery journey. I felt like I was in a safe, beautiful home with the most loving, caring, and kind staff you could ever ask for. The best part is that I made lifelong friends that I will cherish forever. The entire program is incredibly well structured, the staff and therapists are very knowledgeable and kudos to the chefs, as the food was not only nutritious, but phenomenal! Aside from the educational groups that range from group processing, yoga Nidra, sound bath, nutrition and wellness, equine and music therapy (my personal favorites) DBT, CBT, and stress management were incredibly valuable, and I learned so much from these programs. Jen was the first person I spoke with, and I knew in our conversation that this was the right place for me. I was warmly welcomed right from the beginning, and knew this journey would be healing and memorable. We also were able to have a lot of fun with the experiential activities they carefully planned for us. Special kudos to Vikki and Kevin, who went out of their way to give me the care and tools for me to maintain my recovery. I am forever grateful to every single person at Maple Mountain recovery. I researched the entire country for two weeks to find this place, and it was worth that time because they deserve every rave review they get! Super highly recommended and feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Thank you so much to everyone at MMR! I will never forget you and love you all💜

I came to MMR very very scared, I was in a constant out-of-body experience my first few days. The staff and even the clients were super supportive and calm around me. Everyone continued this encouraging, positive attitude and were very sensitive to my needs while I was here. The encouragement to attend group activities was important for me to come out of my shell. I'd say about two weeks in was when I really felt a part of the house, and began to see improvement in myself. To the staff at MMR ya'll are angels in disguise here on earth. You are doing the father's work, showing all us broken people love and hope. I appreciate my experience and am going home with tools I didn't have before. Thank you

Pomarri is nothing short of a god send for me. I am a single mom & last year I spent around 6 months in & out of jail for drugs & probation violations. When I finally got out I was broken, just bankrupt in everyway- mentally, emotionally, spiritually & had accepted prison was my future. However, by the grace of God I found pomarri & the amazing staff, clinicians & therapists helped me find my footing & get back on the right track. Now I can proudly say I have almost 90 days sober. My LO never had the opportunity to receive treatment here, but I can't say enough good things about Natalia who works at intake. My son was arrested due to his mental illness. In a frustrating system, Natalia was a shining light who worked hard to help my son get treatment instead of prison. She wrote multiple letters to the judge, New Roads came out and did assessments and validated my questions and concerns. If the actual facility listens and cares like she did, I am sure the place would be amazing. It came highly recommended to me from various parents whose loved one's were able to recover, thanks to New Roads. I truly wish my son could have received the help that he needs from a place like this. Unfortunately, our country still has a long way to go in the criminalization of those suffering with a serious mental illness. Thanks New Roads for all that you tried to do and especially Natalia.

New Haven Treatment Center is a residential treatment facility for young girls aged 14 through 18. My name is Marissa, and I attended New Haven (Spanish Fork Campus) from 2013 to 2014, residing in the Roosevelt house. I m writing this review to provide a balanced perspective in light of the recent negative attention New Haven has received from some former alumni. I hope my insights can help future parents in their decision-making.When I arrived at New Haven, I was transitioning from a physically demanding wilderness program called Second Nature. I was in great physical shape, weighing 140 pounds with a muscular build. However, during my time at New Haven, I experienced rapid weight gain, reaching a peak of 198 pounds by the time I left, and I m 5'5" tall. Despite my significant weight gain being monitored weekly, it didn t seem to raise alarms with the medical staff, which is something I believe could be improved. One aspect of my experience at New Haven was the treatment team. It could be intimidating to sit in a room with eight or so people evaluating my progress and behavior, especially when they shared feedback in front of other girls during our Thursday meetings. While this process could feel humiliating at times, I now understand the importance of accountability in a therapeutic environment. It s not about abuse; rather, it s about encouraging personal growth and forcing you to confront your actions and their consequences. On a positive note, I genuinely appreciated the daily routine at New Haven. The small school program offered focused, one-on-one attention that I desperately needed. Additionally, bringing my cat, Neko, home with me was a truly special part of my experience.I ve noticed that many individuals who express dissatisfaction with New Haven often struggle with gender dysphoria. In my opinion, New Haven may not be the best fit for children seeking gender identity therapy. Instead, I believe it effectively serves those dealing with issues such as substance abuse, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, hyper-promiscuity, family-related challenges, and occasionally eating disorders.Through reflection, I've come to realize that the consequences I faced at New Haven were a direct result of my actions rather than any form of abuse as stated in other reviews. While I sometimes felt that the consequences were overwhelming as a teenager, this experience ultimately led to my growth. Acknowledging my role in my circumstances was difficult but liberating. Although I hold some resentment for missing key moments in my teenage years, like prom and high school events, I am incredibly grateful to be sober and alive today. I cherish the memories I do have, especially considering the path I was on before coming to New Haven.I sometimes find myself missing the supportive environment at New Haven and would love the opportunity to return for a tour. Overall, my experience was complex, but it undeniably contributed to my growth and well-being. The road after has been challenging, but I learned invaluable tools to navigate issues like drug abuse, abusive relationships, and self-hatred. Now at 27, I do not regret my time at New Haven; in fact, I sometimes wish I had appreciated it more. This establishment is not abusive; it s a place that encourages you to face your reality and grow from it. As hard as it is, it s not abusive.

About a year ago, after experiencing a completely ineffective 60 day residential treatment program, my daughter, who had been struggling with profound emotional health concerns, including depression and anxiety manifesting in substance abuse, self harm and several suicide attempts, was completing her second 60 day residential treatment program, which had proven to be very impactful and transformative. While this outcome was very welcome and encouraging, as discharge approached, I was faced with the difficult choice of bringing my daughter home and hoping for the best, or continuing her treatment with a long term residential treatment program. After thoughtful deliberation and vetting, I opted for the long term residential treatment program offered at New Haven Academy.During the vetting process, and when I ultimately brought my daughter to New Haven for admission, I was scared, vulnerable and emotionally drained. I was about to commit my daughter and myself to a year long residential treatment program away from home and at significant cost - something no parent should ever have to consider. The process, commitment and cost seemed daunting. However, upon reflecting on the challenges, events and experiences that led us to residential treatment, as well as on the research and vetting I had completed on several long term residential treatment centers, I made the decision to trust my work and the staff I had met and connected with at New Haven thus far.I admitted my daughter to New Haven on February 5th, 2024. As I write this letter, it is February 14th, 2025; my daughter s transition day. During my research process, most likely similar to yours, I was provided with a virtual tour of New Haven, which included a brief interview with two current (at the time) New Haven students. When I asked what they valued most about the program, they both immediately responded with the level of parental and family engagement required of the program. This really resonated with me, as I knew truly transformative and impactful change could only occur with my intentional engagement and participation. Other important elements that stood out to me were its robust array of therapeutic supports, including substance abuse support and recreational therapy, its sports program and its serious and rigorous academic program. My past year with my daughter at New Haven has been so positive and transformative for both her and me individually and us as a family. We have both learned so much about ourselves, and have learned to really see and understand each other authentically and with intention. As a parent in my mid 50s, I pushed myself to show up physically and emotionally for every therapy session and programmed multi-family event. This also meant completing with intention all of the parent homework included in the New Haven program handbook, as well as various projects assigned by our therapist.Throughout our time in the program, I always felt supported through our primary therapist, programmed activities, such as support calls and Parent Weekends, and by individual parent coaching. The result was that, while my daughter and I had a good foundational relationship before starting at New Haven, I learned about emotional blind spots I had, and how to overcome them to show up for her to repair, rebuild and strengthen our relationship with a much deeper trust and connection, and she has learned how to effectively and consistently identify, cope with and overcome the emotional challenges she was struggling with.Whether you are in the process of considering New Haven Academy for your family, or you are in the early days of the program, I hope sharing our experience with you helps you with your decision and gives you hope for a healthy and fulfilling future for you and your daughter. You and your family will heal together, become more connected than you thought possible and you will all become stronger and more resilient. My very best wishes to you,Jason Lopez

Nothing has helped me come back to myself like the treatment at Deer Hollow. The effects of Complex PTSD had been ruling and ruining my life for decades. I felt hopeless and helpless and full of shame before my stay. I feel calm, connected and compassionate again. I feel like myself. I couldn t be more grateful for the experience I had here.

Steps Recovery without a doubt changed my life for the better. From day 1, I was treated respectfully and with compassion by the entire staff. After putting off treatment for several years and nearly losing my family, I reached out to them and was immediately made a priority. I was the last person on earth that wanted to go to treatment. The level of counseling was far beyond what I expected as well as the staff there who were instrumental in my recovery. I owe the entire staff there more than I d ever be able to pay back. My therapist was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable and I can t thank him enough. We were never cooped up in a room all day. We had not only mental and emotional coaching, but physical and outdoor activity which helped immensely. If you re reading this and deciding on whether or not to get help here, do it right now. This place and these people will save your life! You just have to check your ego and go. Best of luck to anyone reading this!!

I put myself into Detox at Steps Recovery in Payson. Hannah was incredibly supportive from the very first interaction, and well after I was done there. She made me feel more comfortable in my decision to get help, and was so understanding and took as much time as I needed to answer all the questions I had. I was super nervous and anxious. The place I stayed in while detoxing was nice and cozy, I would recommend bringing your favorite blanket or pillow if that would make you feel more comfortable. The staff was AMAZING! They really care about you and make sure you are as comfortable as possible. They will try to accommodate any requests you have.I am so grateful I took that step in getting the help I know I needed that I couldn t do on my own.I can t recommend Steps Recovery enough! If you are even just thinking about it and unsure, give them a call and they will happily talk you through it and answer any questions you have.

Embark Behavioral Health - Canyon Road Springville in Springville, Utah, is an accredited residential treatment center for mental and behavioral health, based in the foothills of the stunning Wasatch Mountains, right in Hobble Creek Canyon. I am extremely grateful for Embark. My daughter has been struggling for the past 5 years with her mental health, and the last year and a half has been extremely difficult for her. This led to her needing higher care to keep her safe. That transition alone was enough to rip our hearts out. To not be with her every day or comfort her while she was struggling, was unbearable for me as her Mother. As hard as it was for me though, it was even harder for her, which is what makes me so grateful for Embark. My daughter went there 2 days before Christmas and also missed her birthday with family, which was two weeks after. While it was extremely hard for us to find any joy in those occasions this year, Embark made it special for her. They did stockings for the girls and had so many fun activities. I always felt informed and had several contact numbers at Embark with direct lines to staff to be able to check on my daughter. They were also very accommodating and gave my daughter the respect to make choices for herself. They made special accommodations for her diet, schooling, and even sleeping arrangements when she was struggling. They never treated my daughter with unkindness and she said they were always really nice. Even when it came to my daughter expressing anger and saying she was going to run away, they respectfully accompanied her as she went for a walk until she decided to return. They informed me if the incident right away and told me that they didn't restrain her from her behaviors because she needs to have the ability to be able to function when she comes home without us keeping her safe. I love this about them because she ultimately had to make the right choices herself. As scary as it is to have your child away from home and in the care of others, I know that my daughter is in a much better place psychologically after having gone through their program. They do so many fun things in the program. While my daughter was there, they went to the rec center and library weekly, the movies, and also horseback riding. They frequently did Just Dance, ordered pizza, and had movie and popcorn nights, etc.Unless you are a parent who has a child that has gone through a mental health illness, you can't fathom the pain it causes, but knowing that she was treated with love and kindness and that they gave her an environment of happiness while we were apart, is the best I could have asked for.Thank you so much Embark!

Embark was a VERY long, confusing, sometimes stressful journey but it was all worth it, I also had A LOT of fun. First getting there seemed stressful especially because of drama, lots and lots of stupid high school drama, But staff attended to our wants and needs as much as they could. Very quickly I got into 1 on 1 and family therapy with my therapist but soon after (maybe 2-3 weeks) she quit and I had to restart with a whole new therapist, her name is Noelle:)) She is AMAZING and so slay! She is very welcoming and so good at her job especially when it comes to safety of others, myself, my family, etc. Embark puts all their love and might into our safety but can sometimes get blind sided. A big room for improvement for Embark is communication, other then the communication between staff and parents, that great! The communication between staff and students or staff and staff is . Other then that Embark was A LOT of fun, I entered on July 2nd and for the 4th of July they got bouncy castles with water slides and staff would bring their pets (mainly dogs but one of my favorite staff (Aaron) AKA (AA batteries) has a tortoise) :) They are constantly giving us a homey feel and staff will bring in treats every so often and tell us all about their family and open us with open arms whenever we need someone to talk to or give us advice and coping skills when needed. I do recommend this treatment for addiction (Self harm, drugs, alcohol, etc.) or any fears of your child being life being at risk. This program can be really easy or really hard and it can be long or short but it all depends on the client and if they take their treatment seriously! Deer Hollow is a wonderful place. So many talented therapists are here! I had a wonderful experience in residential, it was tough and the most transformative experience of my life. Outpatient didn't seem to have the same level of intensive therapeutic approaches in the group setting, in comparison to residential. Outpatient was also more disorganized than residential. Group cohesion was something the therapists struggled to manage at times (in outpatient). Many conflicts in the group were left unresolved and continued to grow, despite individuals voicing how others were impacting them (using parts language, DBT DEAR MAN, etc.). While I'm sure everyone has the same/comparable training, outpatient didn't incorporate psychodrama as much as residential, nor did it do as deep work within IFS, which was unfortunate as I found the most positive transformation with psychodrama & IFS. Yes, there was a lot of psychoeducation regarding IFS in outpatient, but actual experiential exercises weren't as common from my experience. Also, there is a therapist in outpatient who has some tendencies that lean towards a God complex, and wanting to push people in a way that isn't trauma-informed. This was a part that I observed in this therapist's behaviors, which was really difficult to navigate as the client. This specific therapist isn't that way all of the time (that God complex part isn't always activated) but there were times that were heavily guided by their own desire to be of importance. I understand most people in helping professions have a helper part, but this part in this therapist was pretty extreme, I can see how it motivates the therapist to do better and continuously improve, but to a point where it occasionally leads to a lack of unconditional positive regard and places outcomes over the process. Again, this person isn't defined that part but it came up and impacted my treatment. I still think every therapist here is extremely talented, but I believe that feedback-informed treatment (FIT) should be considered when guiding treatment. I am not looking for a rationalization for these occurrences, I am just trying to voice my experience as there were moments in outpatient that were more harmful than helpful. But overall, my experiences at Deer Hollow were transformative and helpful for my healing. If someone is going to go, I highly recommend doing residential first as it was a completely different experience than outpatient, and residential offered so much more intensive healing work. I hope that my experiences are honored and respected, and that this is taken with the integration of the whole perspective with the good parts and the more challenging parts (within myself of course, but also within the organization as a whole). Sending lot of peace, compassion and gratitude, as I know for a fact I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for the healing I received at Deer Hollow.
