Western NC has very limited resources. There is an abundant need for many different services as more and more people are retiring in this area. This is depleting availability of people offering these service, lengthen wait time and shortening patience of those willing to serve. I had to wait 2 years to find a place that was willing to help me. I am happy to of found ACS, as they were quick to serve and help me find my path. I am now 2.5 months in and feel like I my life has improved. I did not give 5 stars as the facilities are behind, however, understand the limited resources given to services like these to improve service.

I've been in treatment 14 years. God and Medmark gave me my life back. If you truly want to feel normal again and get your life back on track then I suggest starting treatment ASAP. I have the best councillor anybody could ever have. Sherry Barnes knows me inside and out! The reason I don't go to a clinic closer to me is because of Sherry. You've got to have a councillor that you trust or your treatment could become jeopardized. So if you are ready to get your life back then I suggest Medmark and Sherry Barnes!

I have been going to this treatment center since August. In that amount of time I have seen people heal from opiate addiction to move on to healthier and better lives. I will say that the counselors at this clinic care deeply about each one of the people who walks through the door every day. If you struggle with addiction, I would suggest calling and talking to one of the counselors. Truly they care.

Broke down up here in Blairsville on our way home to Marietta. Needed to guest dose for 3 days and they ended up going above and beyond to do what they could to help us. Extremely thankful for this place. The director is definitely a lot more helpful and nice than the director at our home clinic. Definitely recommending them to anyone that needs them in this area. Joy, Shauna, and the dosing nurse are wonderful people and helped us when we needed it the most. Cant say thank you enough!!! ----Alicia and Brad----

I have never felt so cared for and supported before. I am very thankful for the staff, Dr. Watras who is so wise and informative, Counselor Liz who is very knowledgeable, understanding and relatable, Danielle who was the first person to welcome me so openly and genuinely, and Nurse Stephanie ,& Nurse Tonya who do their jobs well while expressing sincere concern for every single patient. Embark Behavioral Health in Benton, TN, was truly a lifeline for our family when we had no other hope. Our 13-year-old son just completed the program, and the transformation we ve seen in him is nothing short of incredible. His ability to regulate his anger has improved tremendously, and we feel more equipped as parents to support him moving forward.A huge part of this success is thanks to his therapist, Kevin, who was an absolute Godsend. Kevin has the patience of a saint and not only helped our son but also taught us as parents more than we ever thought possible. The guidance and support we received throughout this journey were life-changing.If you re on the fence about taking this step, I encourage you to do it. It s scary, but for us, it has been the best decision we ve ever made for our family. We are forever grateful to Embark!

If you are searching for a residential program, you have found it. I cannot express the true impact the team in Benton has had on our family. Beginning on day one, they tirelessly invested in not only our son, but our family as one unit. The support and care is unmatched and we are so grateful. They have helped us restore the peace, understanding, and love within our family.

Our 15-year-old son went to Embark on 12/2/24 and was discharged on 3/9/25. Before Embark, he struggled with a whirlwind of emotions that made day to day activities difficult for him and those around him. He had been in therapy since he was 3 and we felt like we were just spinning our wheels and going in circles. The anger and aggression was escalating and property destruction was frequent. Our son struggled with low self esteem, communicating with others, intrusive thoughts, suicidal ideations, and even a suicide attempt. After several acute stays and a lot of back and forth about what the next steps should be, we decided to give residential a try. After being denied by a few other facilities, we felt defeated. Then I saw an ad for Embark on my FB feed. After combing through the website, I called. The process was fairly easy and VERY thorough, which I loved. When we got the call that there was a bed available, I was so nervous. I hadn't spent more than a week away from any of my kids and here I was about to send a part of my heart off to some strange place nearly 8 hours away from home and trust strangers to care for him. From the moment that we stepped foot in the front door, we were welcomed with open arms and treated like family. The knots that were in my stomach began to fade away and I knew that he was in good hands. Chris was our son's therapist. He challenged our son to think on a deeper level and access some things that he buried a long time ago. He treated our son with compassion and structure that was much needed and we cannot thank him enough. The residential and rec staff are amazing as well, and have really made a lasting impact on our son. Chef Dan was amazing and took time to listen to our son when he needed to talk (our son has a passion for cooking, too). School has always been tough for our son. At Embark, he recieved the supports that he needed and actually started to enjoy learning again. Each staff member got to know our son and it was so nice to hear other people point out his strengths instead of focusing on the things that he struggles with.Family Days were well thought out and engaging. Each activity allowed us to learn more about our son and ourselves. We were able to realize things that needed to change in our family system. We were challenged to see things through the eyes of our child, and with that came a lot more understanding, communication, and grace with each other. When we got the call that our son would be discharging, it was bittersweet. He was a little sad to leave his friends and the staff that he became so fond of. We were nervous about how things would go when we returned home. The transition planning was done wonderfully. Ian helped us make sure that everything was set up back home (therapy, meds, school). He even sat in on an IEP meeting that occurred over a week after discharge and has followed up with us to make sure things were going well.We are very pleased with the progress that our son has made in the short 3 months that he was there. He made real connections with peers; something that he has struggled doing since he was little. He learned to embrace the things that make him unique. He discovered talents that he didn't know he had. He experienced things that he likely would not have experienced at home.Since returning home, he has definitely gotten frustrated and angry (it is inevitable with 4 siblings). The difference is that he has learned so many skills and how to implement those skills at the right time. Situations that would have escalated to thrown/smashed furniture and screaming that lasted hours three months ago are now a few huffs and puffs and a little grunting that lasts minutes. We have definitely noticed his efforts in using his coping skills since he's been home and I am so proud of all the hard work that he has put in and the growth he has shown.I would 100% recommend Embark at Benton to anyone who is looking into residential treatment for their son. If we ever get to a point where it's needed again, we know where we will calling first.

My oh my! What can I say about Black Bear!? During my time at Black Bear I was rebellious at first because I'm an Addict. After getting settled, I realized that Black Bear Lodge is more than a rehab... it is a spiritual, holistic retreat! The walks from cabins to the different centers and the theater was amazing. I was physically unfit because of my alcoholism. When I left Black Bear I was much stronger physically and mentally. The counselors are so amazing and attentive. I had Corey my first time and Susan my second time (took me two times but that's neither here nor there lol. They were so empathetic. The nurses were amazing! Ms. Sylvia was the best nurse I ever had! Her daughter Jess was a tech and she was so caring and understanding. I had fun during my stay. I met some very comical people that I still stay in contact with to this day. Today I am almost 1 year and 1 month sober! I couldn't be here without the self care and mental health information that I learned from Black Bear! The food was great! The chef even caters to special diets (vegan, vegetarian, lactose intolerance). The staff really cares about the clients. I could go on and on about Black Bear and my review is jumbled because there is just so much good there! Detox was great, recovery was great, cabins were amazingly beautiful and relaxing, classes were informative, nursing was amazing...even the van drivers were awesome, so funny and caring. The off campus AA meetings were a good experience and prepares you for going to meetings after you get discharged. The administrative staff and discharge coordinators are great. Loved Melissa and the two Amandas and the many Heathers lol! I can't remember all the names but I love them all! I would honestly go to Black Bear just to chill if they allowed alumni to do that! Anyways, there might be some things that you may not like but if you are humble, open and vulnerable you can have an amazing experience at Black Bear Lodge Recovery!

My stay at Black Bear Lodge was surprisingly pleasant, despite my circumstances. The food was better than good, and having the nature walks and hikes were essential to my recovery. Looking back, I am so grateful for these small luxuries because they made all the difference. Especially since a lot of these places lack those commodities.

this place changed my life. I wasn t even aware that a place like this existed. This was my first time in residential treatment and I was so nervous because I do get nervous and social situations and going to a whole new state freaked me out too but the staff, nurses and therapists were so friendly and welcoming that it wasn t long that I felt right at home.Through going to groups, walking around the beautiful campus, and going to animal therapy, I was able to reconnect with myself. There are a lot of groups throughout the day about various helpful topics. The food is so good and they serve a variety of different cuisines. However, if you don t like with their serving that night, you can put in a form to get a substitution meal which are just as good. They have a community meeting every week where you can voice your concerns. And they really do listen to you. Most of them who lead the meeting, take notes and follow up. They really do care about the patients there.Martina, one of the patient advocates, is absolutely amazing at what she does. there is not even words to describe how great she is. If you have any concerns, she will do everything in her power to help you and really advocate for you.overall, this place is such a beautiful, serene location to just be present, work on your mental health and meet some great people along the way. I would recommend going here to anyone.

I had a phenomenal experience at Pasadena Villa. It was an awaken from a dark place with a lot of work. I want to thank the staff that were there to support me along the way. Lucinda my therapist was my rock. She uncovered and helped me come a long way. The Techs were great...Kellan, Cody, Ty, Sam, David, Stephanie, Heidi, Tabitha, Savannah, Amy....I want to thank Client Services Martina and Emily. I want to say thank you to the nurses for their hard work. To Jessica and Hannah yall are awesome as well. The therapists that runs groups and are there for support are not forgotten. We wouldn't be where we are without yall, especially Ed. The experience clinically was one that helped me learn coping skills and life skills out of the facility. The real therapy happens in the milieu with sessions by the fire. We are truly one big family. It takes a Villa to get to a better place.

I just wanna say thank you to my psychiatrist Rhonda for listening to me whenever it comes to my psych meds and helping me understand that it s not gonna be perfect and that we have to adjust some things as we continue on our journey of treatment with mental and our drug addiction. How much things to the staff Heidi, who pick me up from the motel and brought me to the program and put up with all of my questions along the ride also I wanna say things to the medical staff that listened to me about the symptoms that I was going through and scheduling me appointment to go see the OB doctor and much thanks to Dianna for teaching the class about menopause. I feel like more doctors should be more studies on that so that as women can get the correct help that we need and my therapist Alexia she s amazing and to Tony who is the life skills coach with helping us to learn to budget I know who is there to help us with certain things as in me a protective order on my ex and A major things to Lucinda and Ed who listen to me throughout my problems that I was going through, but not understanding my child and what he s going through and Miss Martinez who did my intake she is a very polite and a respectable listener that doesn t shove you away and is probably to help you in any kind of way that she can help you, and I want to do another shout out to Alex one of the text who noticed that I was going through some things and he directed me to go to the nurses station to talk to them and thanks for paying attention when others didn t finally get a Helpthat I need so I can continue my life so I can be a better Better friend, mother sister, daughter And I know my job is gonna be super proud. Thanks for everything.

Hi. I just want to say this is a great facility for detoxing and peer support. But, when I came here I was not able to receive the medication I needed when I found the one that worked. I told my doctor that the adavan the nurses were giving me worked and that I was calm and aware of my surroundings. He said to take lithium and I said No because I have been on so many drugs in the past and they did not work, that because I knew the adavan worked to give me that. I started arguing with him and then I left without any medication except for the one pill that actually worked the first night I got there. So now it's been 5 months and I still have the same underlying problems; paranoia, anxiety, negative energy, hate, anger, and pessimism. I just want the nurses and health aides to know they are very good people and do a good job and the psychiatrist is a big fat nimrod with a paper shredder degree. Thank you.

I have been in the VA system since 1991 and to tell you the truth Athens and Chattanooga VA has been the best. When I get to the site and check in sometimes the wait is a little long but that s because Dr.Heath takes the time to listen to the vets and not rush them out. She has a number that she has to see per hour but still will sit and listen to you. If you think you are having to wait a long time try going to a Dr office outside of the VA. I have 0 complaints and get good care there.

I came the HH in 2004, I had one foot in my grave and the other on a banana peal. My mother & father dropped me off at the blue house and wondered what I had got myself into. Believe it or not the first person i met as I entered was no other than Tom Hickey.Tom took one look at me and said YOUR GONNA DIE !!! I thought to myself what a thing to say to someone upon arrival. It took a while for me to figure out and eternalize why he would say that. The truth is he was rite. If I hadent shown up when I did I would have for sure.. By the grace of my higher power the Hickey house and Tom Hicky I didn t relaps. Truth is I wanted to. I wanted to go out and get just a tore up as possible. Only problem is I remembered what to said to me. I eventually was put on staff at the Mountain House. I stayed at the house for 3 years and moved to DemorestIn one of Sherry Hickyes apartments. I forgot to mention I worked 3 jobs while there. Made more money than I ever have and loved it. I was actually happy. No dope and I was actually happy.. Star Bridges was a good friend to me. I wonder if he remembers me? Hey Star hope you are well.

If you re looking for a Christian-based program, this is one of the best places to consider. From personal experience, I attended this program back in October 2016 at the age of 20. At that time, I had no direction or discipline in my life. Waypoint Ministry introduced me to both and so much more.During the first 30 days of the program, participants go through a blackout period. During this time, we weren t allowed to exercise, as it allowed our bodies to recover from years of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle choices. After 30 days, we were allowed to begin exercising, which was a turning point for me.It has now been eight years since I graduated from the program. I still stay in contact with the men I attended with, and I cherish the fellowship I experienced there. One of the most impactful parts of the program for me was working in the thrift store. It was a fantastic learning opportunity that taught me soft skills I still use today. Because of that experience, I now enjoy visiting thrift stores and looking for treasures, knowing how much thought and effort goes into sorting donations, stocking the storefront and clothing racks, and even selling items online.Sadly, I ve lost a couple of friends over the years because they chose to return to their old lifestyles. However, I ve also witnessed countless examples of broken men entering the program and leaving as spiritual giants.Waypoint Ministry opened doors for me to participate in missions trips, youth camps, and even spreading the gospel in prisons. As of 2025, I m still sober and stay connected with a few people from Waypoint. If you had told me years ago that my life would turn out this way, I wouldn t have believed you. If I could sum up this program in one word, it s love. I came to Waypoint broken and scared, but this place gave me the opportunity to slow down, examine my life and upbringing, and find peace.I don t know what the future holds, but every morning I greet the sunshine with gratitude because of the incredible people involved in this ministry. It wasn t easy I can t count how many times I wanted to give up. But I kept going, and life today is nothing short of incredible.
