I especially enjoyed the yoga and meditation classes in the morning that got you feeling relaxed and mentally motivated for the day. They brought you to outside AA/NA/ CR meetings plus hosted them in house and the YMCA is across the street if you’re want exercise. The food was delicious (with real silverware) so watch your weight. I had only been to 1 other treatment center (back in the 90's, it was 12 Step, secular recovery) The way I found S2L was by no doubt God doing for me what I couldn't do for myself. These ladies poured their hearts & souls into my spirit, reminding me of: who I am in Christ & who GOD is & how GOD sees me. I was only able to stay for 2 weeks due to health complications that were beyond S2L's capabilities. But what I can say is, after only 2 weeks, I came home to chaos with family & intense physical pain & I never once wanted to use alcohol or anything else to change the way I felt. The staff there are truly committed to the people they serve & unselfishly go out of their way to lift you up with the Word of God. I've been home for a little over a week now, my dad still hates me & I'm looking for somewhere to live with no clue how things will work out. However, I know Who is in control & I'm not worried about these things. I feel confident in Christ, he's always pursued me & has always provided. The only other things I want to add are: 1. like most all treatment centers there are strict rules to abide by, go in with an open mind. These rules are for your good. 2. I became the clearest in my mind after a very long time. With all of the leaders there and my coach Emily, I was truly blessed. God is in this place! But I knew on the first day that he would be safe and valued, just based on how patient they were with him through the onboarding process. Throughout his time there, they saw his good through his pain and anger. They worked with him and me to teach us new ways. The place itself was beautiful and my son spent so much time in his happy place of nature. When things were very hard for him, they communicated with me and never gave up. The residential staff are God-sent people. I loved that turnover was so low, that I really knew all the staff by the end of the process. They were familiar and comforting during family visits. ALL the staff - care coordinator, Jaime, Chris, Jake, the nurses, the therapist team, Nathan, residential coaches - were consistently compassionate, communicative, and provided quality, individualized treatment for my family. From first contact after hours on a weekend, to accepting my son for treatment even before we had payment worked out, to working with my insurance to get everything covered in-network when they were technically out of network to the fantastic intensive outpatient services. I had a crippling addiction to 7-0H. For those unaware its a concentrate of the molecule in kratom that causes opioid like effects. It felt almost as strong as oxycodone and is available otc for cheap. I was spending at least 30 bucks a day for 6 plus months and I wasn't even one of the worst cases. Tolerance builds quick. Its physically addictive just like pain pills. I started drinking every night from the stress and got physically addicted to that too. I did the detox program for 7 days and Im finally free and can actually hold onto my money. The staff and patients are so kind and you can smoke hourly. You can sleep as much as you need. Im staying on Suboxone therapy from now on. It you are hesitating to go please do it. I would have ended my life if not for them. Its the only program I voluntarily did and finished.
