So sad to be updating this review because this place turned so bad. I love the staff and loved it BUT about a month or 2 ago they got a new doctor and she's so bad! Messing with so many clients meds and lying to clients faces and so so much more! It's sad when she first started my councler even warned me how bad she is :( I don't recommend this place until they get a new good doctor!

My girlfriend and I battle opiate addiction and have went to the victory clinic in south bend (where we're from)to try getting off the opiates but left there more frustrated and discouraged than before. Now we go to Swanson and it's amazing. We are understood, heard, and not judged. People there believe in us and are willing to do anything to see us succeed
So far we love it.

I went to the swanson center afraid I was going to get a doctor who wasn't going to listen to me, just prescribe pills, and send me on my way. BUT no, that is not what I got. I got a nice lady named Gloria, who , like me, is a dog lover and encouraged me to bring my dog in next appointment. I am excited to go back with my dog, not only because I can bring my dog with me, but because I liked her energy and responsive care to my woes and sorrows. Made me feel comfortable and at ease.

Porter stark mental health in valparaiso was very kind , Mason, dr. Verma , lou, nick , Steve, we'll the whole staff was super kind and understanding. Very professional and very good with group therapy sessions while I was there.

I made my main review at the Portage location if ya need advice on who to see. But wanted to shout out Micah the psychiatrist who works at this location. I’m a force to be reckon with to put it nicely but he passed the test most don’t for me. I came from having a psychiatrist who knew me for years to having to switch to Micah so I already wasn’t thrilled about it because I get the ick to easily from people. But he has been a breathe of fresh air honestly. He truly listens, not just listens to give a reply and answer, but he understands and comprehends it and that’s important. Especially a gem of a person after having to deal with me at an appointment when I’m in a manic episode cause if you know about those BPD manic episodes then you know how intense you can be. He may have had a lil fear in his eyes seeing me in that moment but he dealt with it with such care and understanding and respect even in the hardest moments. If you get lucky enough to have Micah as your psychiatrist, ask him about the large picture he has framed in his office, he’s got some pretty cool stories to tell that are guaranteed to make ya giggle.

This place is a total scam. They said I have to pay cash when I told them over and over I have medical insurance with my job. They keep taking about Medicaid? I told them I have insurance my place of work literally referred me here for help and they will not help after 2 months, going in person and phone calls. They just wanna make you cry and and yell at you. Didn’t raise my voice or act disrespectful but the woman is extremely rude. If you’re an addict who needs help you won’t get it here. I am actually filing a report with the police because they took my social twice and there are reports of this place using your social for fraud.

This place is awesome, you'll get what you put into it. If your not serious about recovery you'll probably think not, if you are serious this is a safe, drug free place for you to go were we hold each other accountable, until our minds are free enough to hold ourselves accountable. As of this writing I have a years experience with this location and program so will try and clarify things a bit. An important thing to understand is that each house is independent and ran by the current residents under guidelines set forth by its area chapter which in turn is governed by the state chapter then national program. Each house is run democratically by its residents with a persons power being in their vote. I feel most of the negative reviews I've heard are from those who relapsed or who routinely or egregiously violated rules and were kicked out. The only violations that allow for immediate expulsion are relapse, violence, or those of a potentially criminal nature. This program is not a good fit for everyone as it is more of a peer supported independent living type situation. It is not as rigidly governed as many halfway houses and is better suited for those comfortable in recovery and capable of living independently but still desiring some structure and guidance. As for Emyla specifically I would say it is a great location. It is near downtown with Leeper Park and the river nearly next door. The residents tend to be easy going and get along well. The house is big with 3 full baths, 3 kitchens, and 2 living rooms. It is worth looking into the place to see if it is for you but remember it is not for everyone.

I know it can feel overwhelming to have to go through these classes, but the staff make it doable. They are so welcoming and kind. They make you feel heard and appreciated not just another number. If you have to go through classes I would definitely recommend coming here.

The guildhause saved my life. By the time I ended up on their doorstep I was literally looking death in the face. They gave me a new purpose and a whole new outlook on life. I have been coming to semoran new seasons treatment center for over 6 years and never in any of those 6 years have I ever have my HIPAA violated or have been treated like the staff is better than me, until today. Diane, someone who is supposed to be a 'trusted' counselor, is someone who instead is a power hungry and unsympathetic human. As I'm being called to the window she tried to block me from going to dose and also made some ignorant comments, then went on to tell my counselor to CONTROL HER PATIENTS! Basically because I didn't let her bully me like she does every one else...oh and Diane didn't like that. Even after knowing what a disgusting person she really is after hearing how she talks to and about people, as I am sitting outside where the group was going on (literally before this had even happened) but after I saw how she acted towards me in a hallway full of people, oh and tried to deny my dose. Like what a miserable human. She obviously doesn't like when people stick up for themselves. She was just dragging addicts in that group and it was nauseating. Even after all this happened in the hallway and patients from that group are saying how this counselor acts like she is better than the patients. I sure don't want anyone or anything like that around me and my sobriety! Being in that type of position and treating people in recovery like that is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself, Diane. Literally the ONLY negative thing I have to say about Semoran.
Like I said i have been in the program since August 2019 and I have had a very positive experience with everyone else. Regina is so kind and supportive but also very no nonsense. Michelle, the nurse practitioner has a heart of gold and the best sense of humor, she will always have a smile on her face. Dawn is my counselor and she's amazing, she has worked very hard with me and I have came so far in my recovery. I can always depend on her to be honest with me. Steve, you aren't my counselor but you have helped me through a lot too and i am very grateful for you. This program was the best thing that has ever happened to me. You have to be ready to commit yourself to sobriety and really be done for it to truly work for you. And there are some wonderful counselors to help you. Bruce, Makeba, Vic, just to name a few. Even negative things you can try to take away and make something positive from it. This may have started off as sounding like a negative review, but you can't let one rotten apple ruin the bunch. 🙏🏻

I attend semeron in Gary Indiana. I've been going there for some years now. It took a long time to really get serious about getting clean. The good thing was they allowed me to make those mistakes with compassion and didn't kick me out for not being clean right away. They allowed me to make that decision for myself. My counselor Diane is so wonderful! She's my counselor and my brothers as well , we both attend. She's so caring and really goes out of her way to be compassionate and really makes an effort to meet you "where you are" , which is rare in a person. She deserves the most credit for any success I've enjoyed . She's a miracle worker . And then there's the nursing staff . They really make the place function . They dispense the medication and evaluate you at the window to make sure everythings is ok with you. Again , great people . They do a lot of the heavy lifting. They deal with a lot and still remain friendly and professional . Regina is the boss. LoL. She runs and sort of coordinates everything that happens at semeron. There isn't anyone who could be better this job. If you let her know you have an issue she's on it . Fast. She's super dedicated to making this experience as easy and beneficial to everyone as possible. If you have a question or a problem or any issue really , she's the one to see. She's the brains of the operation, and she's really really good at it . Even the security is helpful and friendly . They are good at keeping away any riff raff or stopping fights or anything like that. But that isn't a major issue at this place . It's a very professional, very clean , compassionate and it saved my life and my brothers too. I love their groups and classes too. I think that's been another reason I'm clean too. They have so many different forms of rehabilitation and avenues of treatment to choose from, it's easy to find something you'll like . It's a great place that is literally the reason why hundreds of people are alive today. They don't get enough credit.

If I cold give 0 stars, I absolutely would! I cannot continue with this company due to its lack of professionalism. No one answers the phone, and when someone does, they don't even know what to do. I have been trying to get any appointment for the longest and keep getting the runaround. If you are not interested in helping your patients, please just close this business. Highly unprofessional and I would never recommend anyone here.

I received immediate care in the emergency room at Ingalls Memorial Hospital - first time ever there but I was seen s immediately with such care. Later I was admitted because of how sick I was.. their entire emergency team were very caring in ensuring my admittance was properly handled. My inpatient stay was very good with nurses especially were all so patient, friendly & thorough. Various other medical staff were also kind in processing doctor’s orders with each visit. Ingalls dietary intake wasn’t bad & their staff very friendly. MY ONE COMPLAINT WOULD BE BETTER HOUSEKEEPING OF CLEANING FLOORS & BASEBOARDS. Glad Ingalls is in our community!!

If I could give this business a negative number I absolutely would. I have been trying since August to get into see the doctor and get prescribed Suboxone or some other kind of medication to help detox and stay off of heroin however, I have yet to do so, because every time I go in there, there is always something else happening that stops me from seeing the provider, I have no understanding of why they make it so difficult for us to get in there. It’s almost like they much rather see us die on the street with the needle in our arm then give us the help we are so desperate for.

Just finished my exit interview after a state mandated probation restriction and I can say I wish i started it sooner than I did.
Julian and the entire staff are there to help anyone willing to enter (or forced in my case) a recovery program with open arms.
Sure, it costs money and it's not a RESORT type program (anyone that has seen the movie 28 days knows what i mean).. but the therapy is very helpful and worthwhile if you're either struggling... or in my case... BUSTED doing something stupid.
The understanding that people make mistakes is first and foremost... the encouragement for self help is right there... and the personal attention via 1 on 1 is great.
The group sessions were relaxed and often entertaining.... sharing stories of mistakes and triumphs... goofy occurances and others in the group lovingly joking about why and how we ended up there..... whether by choice or law....
They're highly resourceful for any additional help someone might feel the need to reach for as well.
As strange as it may sound.... i'm kinda gonna miss going in.
If you feel like you're struggling with addiction... maybe problems at home... maybe the loss of a loved one... or anything... i seriously can't recommend them highly enough.

They made me feel really comfortable during my stay in terms of commodities and services. However, now and then I heard some staff members discuss inappropriate topics that terrorized us patients (eg. dead patients)

Just a few days in this hell-hole wrecked me. This has to be the worst psych ward in this country. I've never experienced just a lack of empathy in all my life. I left here with a UTI, Jock itch, and athlete's foot due to their disgusting sanitary practices. 90% of these people are absolutely miserable. We need MUCH better mental health care in Northwest Indiana.

A much better experience than the other options I've contacted for mental health. Porter Stark, the doctor immediately told me he couldn't help me and came off as very judgmental and North Shore was a joke. The doctor I met with for the first time with today was the complete opposite. Compassionate and actually listened to me without being condescending. Not sure yet that they'll be able to help me but I'm just grateful to find a single local psychiatrist that speaks to people like a human being.
