I went here about 6 years ago. I don't know if the Staffing is the same at this time as I haven't been in touch with them since then. In November I'll be 6 years clean. I am so grateful for the entire staff of Heartland. At some of my families toughest moments, they were there to help support in all the ways that they would. I have had the unfortunate need to seek treatment for a family member and this is the place I would always recommend for any family I know. I heard about this facility from a friend and I decided to give it a try. The program works really well if you put in the work. The food is great and the staff hold you accountable, the facility could be a little bit cleaner but with one cleaning lady who puts in a lot of work what do you expect.This facility makes you feel like you will be ready to get out there on your own and succeed on your recovery journey.

I can't stand the negative reviews. YES I WAS THERE. Six months ago, I almost didn't stay but I did. Such incredible staff and an incredible program. Met some of the greatest people to ever want to change their life around. Residential was amazing. PHP also an incredible program attended both with full support from all staff and peers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RECOVERY WORKS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BETTER THEMSELVES.

Let me just say I was a patient at Medmark for years and above everything no matter what because they open at 4:45 AM says it all. They generally want to meet everyday people’s needs to live a normal life.In and out the door before 5am to do what you need to do w your life. Try and find another clinic that does that for you. You won’t. Working men and women this your clinic. Just no weed. Sorry.

I do not typically do these reviews however I felt very strongly I needed to. I have been in the program for over 7 years. The program honestly saved my life after trying several other things. My addiction became like most had back problems and my doctors were very free to prescribe the opioids and benzodiazepines. Xanax was actually the worst for me hospitalized for over 10 days due to all the seizures. Anyways the nurses Yolanda Jackie Val are sweethearts and have never judged me once. Yolanda is the one person who always tells me she is proud of me I don’t even hear that from family. Kim who runs front desk is also great. In my experience I have had around 6 counselors and sorry to say this is the downfall here. I don’t know if they are overworked micromanaged or just don’t care but I have had to go elsewhere for my counseling. I have promise for my new counselor April who is new to this location. Since starting she has been on top on my case not letting anything slide. She gets accomplished what the 5 others took months to do and I appreciate that. Non judgmental follow-up and just caring she accomplishes where most can’t and this is what keeps me clean and alive and I thank her for that more than I can say. Doctor is a different story for a different day I will just say to the women ask that a third person be in the room. That’s all!

I’ve never written a review like this before, but Belinda at Regional Health absolutely deserves it. She is, without exaggeration, the sweetest and most genuinely caring person I have ever dealt with at any establishment. I’ve never even met her in person, yet she has treated me with more kindness, consistency, and dedication than most people you meet face-to-face. Belinda goes above and beyond in every way. She helped me find an amazing doctor, made sure my medications were taken care of, and anytime she said she would do something, I knew for a fact it would get done. No doubts. No chasing. No stress. There were days she even made late calls just to make sure everything was handled for me, then followed up to confirm things went smoothly. It’s rare to find someone in healthcare who brings this level of compassion and follow-through. She has made my life a million times easier, and I’m genuinely grateful for her. I have been seeing my psychiatrist there for 3 years. Dr. Godbolt is great! She takes her time and has given me a new hope on life. NOW, The after hours answering service is another story! They rarely pass your message to your Dr. They are very disrespectful. I just called the answering service a few minutes ago. I have terrible insomnia and I've been awake for 3 days. I'm hallucinating because I have been up for so long. At first she was not going to contact my doctor because she said they don't do psychiatry after hours.. what is that? Then I told her that I have been awake for 3 days and I am starting to hallucinate and she said hold on came back two minutes later and said you know what just call back at 8:30 in the morning that's all I can do for you. Something just doesn't seem right there

The stay staff all are hand picked the greatest. Counselors are all one of a kind especially if u get Mrs cora ball of energy and Elijah motivation that and others do care or Steve called my probation officer and help you get off probation concerned checking in on me the staff there want to see everyone who there that it possible to overcome anything we may have faced let it go and don't give up on our selves . Rated the 100 miss my fgc family even pres me prince understanding and encouraging nurses are the best ever also. They offer recovery home as well.fiod good to miss Kathleen and Eric.there drivers they are encouraging uplifting and motivation. The food is restaurant quality fulfilling wonderful.

I have been dealing with this place for 5 days trying to get a loved one help. I have been dealing with one person directly by the name of genell( spelling may be wrong) but this woman. Has been a absolute god send. 12 Aug 2026 - I want to thank the security guard, on early evening duty, for his hospitality and understanding. We were traveling cross country through Gary, IN and pulled off to get gasoline. We were not aware that tornadoes had devastated the area and the gas stations were closed. We really needed to use the restrooms and the security guard kindly pointed us towards the restrooms. THANK YOU! We understand the inconvenience of such storms. We lost power in our area for a week after a hurricane came through our area in a different state. Praying for your speedy recovery. 🙏

I’ve seen some of the negative reviews here, and I wanted to share a different perspective. This is difficult work. The staff often meet people on some of the hardest days of their lives, and those situations aren’t always easy. I’ve personally seen staff deal with some incredibly difficult circumstances, and I’ve been impressed by the patience, kindness, and professionalism they show. Are things always perfect? Of course not. But there are a lot of really good people here who care about what they do and genuinely want to help. I think that deserves to be said, too.

When I watched an online video of my son Terrance getting his brains obliterated and having the remaining chunks of his face slamming into the dirt I never thought I'd get over with it. Now I'm not gonna lie, I didn't. I still have nightmares of him asking for help trying to communicate with his face half-missing. But at least thanks to Edgewater Health, Dr. Lipschitz helped me get a bi-weekly supply of Zoloft and Oxycotton. We gettin' LIT. I have been going there for 7 years. This place literally saved my life. They are very understanding and work with you on many levels. But recently it's a problem with the insurance they say I have to pay $20 weekly because my insurance didn't pay but they have not given me proof of the months not paid I have my proof. I couldn't be more thankful even if I tried to Midwest for everything they did for my child. Always informed of how things were going. Some of the issues we had there weren't caused by staff but by other residents. The staff did what they could to keep everything at peace and help them use the skills they've been taught at the facility. I'm extremely thankful for the nurses and Meghan her therapist. Everyone we dealt with from front desk to the Doctor was amazing. Reading the reviews prior to admission I was absolutely terrified and hesitant, now I'm eternally grateful for Midwest.

As a parent currently navigating the incredibly difficult and emotional experience of having a child in inpatient behavioral treatment, I wanted to share a more balanced perspective regarding Midwest. Like many parents, I read the reviews before my son arrived and was absolutely terrified. While no facility is perfect, and this type of environment is extremely intense and constantly evolving, our experience so far has included several staff members whose passion, compassion, and dedication deserve recognition. Jasmine has been absolutely incredible. Her ability to balance the emotional needs of the patients while also managing staff and unit dynamics is something I genuinely admire. She listens, communicates honestly, remains calm under pressure, and approaches these kids with both accountability and compassion. Angie has such a calming and compassionate presence. You can genuinely feel that she cares deeply about the kids and the work she is doing. Cece has years of experience and taps into her mothering nature to provide a stable environment, often at the cost of the patients giving her flack for her consistency. She is a kind soul who has clearly dedicated herself to this type of work. Mama D has shown so much affection, concern, and dedication toward these boys. In an environment where many of these kids are struggling emotionally and behaviorally, that warmth matters more than people realize. Jamar has also stood out to me because of the stability and consistency he brings to the unit. At the same time, he still seems to understand that these are teenagers who occasionally need moments of laughter, flexibility, and normalcy within appropriate boundaries. Communication has been open throughout this process, although not always perfectly consistent, which honestly should be expected in a setting where staff are constantly navigating changing emotional, behavioral, and safety situations involving multiple adolescents at once. As a parent, this has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. But I also recognize how emotionally demanding this work is for the people caring for these kids every day. I simply wanted to acknowledge the staff members who have made a meaningful difference for our family during an incredibly difficult time. I will update this review once we have completed treatment there, but going on week four, I am very thankful that we ended up choosing Midwest. My son is always clean, has not complained about the facilities or the food, and he is a very picky eater. Yes, some of these reviews probably have some basis, especially those written by former patients. These kids are navigating very difficult emotions and issues in a world that I often find difficult to navigate even as an adult. There is no doubt in my mind that each of these kids is going to have a different experience and perspective while there and post-treatment. It is very much a situation where outcomes depend partly on whether the child is emotionally able and willing to engage in the work of treatment. Many are navigating medication changes, new diagnoses, changing home environments, and hormones all at the same time. It is a lot. I also wanted to add that our son brought up an issue with a staff member to us, and at first we took it with a grain of salt. After additional conversations, we began to believe there was merit to some of his concerns regarding this staff member. Jasmine handled this situation maturely and appropriately while balancing all sides of it. While I could understand my son's perspective, I have also grown to have deep care and concern for our mental health workers. This staff member is likely in need of a break from the unit she has been on for a lengthy amount of time, and this was addressed immediately before it spiraled into something bigger. So, if you're where we were a month ago, I get it. Take some deep, deep breaths, and make a call to Midwest and talk through your concerns. I think you will find that they are a very transparent behavioral health center that is constantly striving to improve.

Andrea Farmer has cared for me the past 6 years, and she's absolutely amazing! She is so caring and compassionate about helping me. I've been inpatient as well. The facility is clean, and the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend their services, especially after being inpatient at Neuro Behavioral Hospital in Crown Point. It was an absolute ghetto nightmare there, for lack of better words. If you or a loved one suffer with mental health issues, reach out to Porter Starke. Usually the first initial visit takes a bit to get in, but after that it's easy to make routine appointments.

We took my daughter for a risk assessment and I was pleasantly surprised by our experience (based off reputation and previous experience). Mario checked us in, was very welcoming and gentle, explained the process and really took the time my daughter deserved for someone to hear her. He explained things in an age appropriate way, gave strategies or idea of support, and walked us through what to expect. He asked my daughter questions that dug deeper in what she meant and didn't take her answer for surface value which I appreciated. He did not lead her, but asked her to explain and when she didn't understand, he explained in a different way. He was genuinely happy to be there, didn't miserable which made us comfortable to open up more. I cannot speak for anyone else, but Mario really did a great job!

Over the days that the power was off the staff at Semeron/New Season did an outstanding job. They did thier best during an extremly difficult time. They went above and beyond to accommodate us patients the best they could. The only thing I would say that needs to be addressed is that they had to rent a generator because there's not one already provided for them. The amount of storms we have in NWI,it has happened before and will definitely happen again. The staff and patients deserve to know they'll have a clinic to come to everyday to continue our recovery journey.

Mr.Whitfield was very helpful in helping me with my alcoholism and alcohol recovery.I was hesitant at first to accept I had an addiction and or a problem but his lessons helped me open up and own my responsibilities for my internal and external triggers.As I let his outlook and experience on addiction resinate class by class it made fighting addiction and recovering more manageable.i would recommend Mr.Whitfield and this program for anyone struggling with addiction in life.
