But I can say with total confidence that Easterseals has done an amazing job helping my daughters and myself cope and adapt in a healthy way to live successfully in todays world. I can’t imagine being a teenager now a days, and as a parent, I would do anything to help my girls get through these tough years. Colleen has done a wonderful job helping us communicate even if it’s uncomfortable for both of us. She helped save my beautiful daughter from going into a very dark place. I see some do not share the same experiences we have with Easterseals, but I’ve been in and out with my girls over the years, and between the staff, docs, and therapists, they have all done an amazing job, considering what they too, have to deal with day in and day out. At times my girls had to change therapists in the middle of treatment, but they did an alright job matching them with someone similar. And if they are ready and willing to change, and it’s explained that stuff like this happens, we got through it. It’s hard to keep constant staff on hand all the time, so I understood. I have never had any issues with any of the staff, doctors, or therapists. We’re always treated well. If you’re looking for pediatric/ adolescent care I highly recommend Dr. Greer. From my initial late night phone call with RN Jeanne who reassured me that I was correct in refusing to get stuck on suboxone for 7oh dependence to meeting with Laura and then all the great nursing/patient care staff (especially Pat, with RT) as well as Dr. Aharonov, this place is the real deal. I don’t think I would have been able to get off 7oh any other way. The morning after the procedure was no walk in the park (fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, insomnia); but not having to suffer thru the intense body aches and pains as well as other opiate withdrawal symptoms for 4-7 days at home was well worth the price of admission. If you can handle a bad hangover for a day plus a couple more days of diarrhea, you can handle this. They also give you meds to help ease whatever symptoms you have after. I can’t tell you how many times I had tried quitting at home unsuccessfully (even with comfort meds like gabapentin and clonidine); I knew I had to go somewhere where I could just “rip off the bandaid” and be done with the nightmare I was stuck in and flying to Michigan was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. I’m going on nearly a month now since I was there and you couldn’t pay me enough to ever touch 7oh again. I’m forever grateful for this place and the amazing staff that works there. I haven’t had nausea, sweated or had diarrhea once since the procedure starrted and up until now. I’m moving around perfectly fine. The only problem I have is the restless legs which they give you meds for when you leave. I was coming off 24 mg suboxone I’ve been stuck on. If your want to be clean and actually get that dopamine feeling just listening to music get to this place as fast as possible. I was part of the face-to-face program at 28 years old, and everything exceeded my expectations. The group therapy sessions were incredibly powerful and gave me tools I didn’t even realize I was missing. My group leader, Kailee, was with me for the majority of the program and is genuinely one of the most bubbly, kindhearted, and knowledgeable souls I’ve ever met. She created a space that was safe, supportive, and uplifting every single day. Niki, my therapist, is truly amazing—so insightful, attentive, and caring. I was put on the right medication but gained a few pounds. I went through the program being on three different crews. The work therapy program is top notch. The Rose Hill psychiatrist got me back on medication and I'm very successful today in the community. I currently have one job that I've held for almost ten years at Genesys Health Club. Unlike the typical, more “hospital like” residential, Rose Hill encourages independence and helping you build skills to use in the real world. I would say the biggest pros are: You get to keep your phone, they don’t stop you from vaping/smoking nicotine, you can have your car there under certain circumstances, you can go out on “day passes” into the community, there are many outings on a weekly basis, you get to go grocery shopping on a weekly basis as well, and you get your own, decently spacious room. It was too hard going up hill but a breeze coming back down to the bridge . Then I had to get off and push it up to the treatment center for women. I really enjoyed my time at this place. However all good times have to end and mine ended . My own experience at Easterseals has only been since early June 2025, but I must express that they do have some wonderful staff here and they've been mostly pleasant and quite helpful in addressing my needs and concerns. My caseworker's been very positive and actually quite responsive when it comes to communication, which truly makes all the difference for me, personally. I feel she genuinely cares. My psychiatrist and therapist also have been great in similar ways. I can't say enough good things about these amazing women! Sure, front end staff seem off or a bit grumpy or just burned out sometimes, but, honestly I can't blame them - I wouldn't be able to deal with the job well myself! It'd annoy the hell out of me dealing with so many people all day. We all get tired of work at times, we're all only human ya know. (I only mentioned this because of the negatory comments I read regarding the initial staff). Lastly, their transportation guys are also awesome! I think what it all comes down to is your own personal attitude, tolerance, and the ability to have compassion and understanding from other perspectives in these type of places when it comes to staff interactions and services in general. I use the Genoa pharmacy there as well, and they've always been great. You get what you give in life or what you put into things folks. It's also good to remember we can't truly control anything outside of ourselves, only what's within us. But, I digress - to each their own.
