South Amboy, New Jersey | Recovery Centers of America is a prominent brand in addiction recovery. While they have a lot of locations throughout the East Coast and the Midwest, we’ll be focusing on the Recovery Centers of America at Raritan Bay in South Amboy, New Jersey. This rehab has two essential levels of care. There’s a residential program where you’ll live on ca | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went to RCA three years ago, and I can honestly say they saved my life. When I arrived, I was completely consumed by my addictions and had no idea how to climb out. This place gave me the tools, structure, and support I needed to rebuild myself from the inside out.
The staff truly cares. They don’t just treat you, they teach you. I learned coping skills, accountability, and how to face life without numbing everything. They helped me understand my patterns, break them, and replace them with healthier habits. Even now, years later, I still use what I learned there.
I walked in broken and walked out with hope, clarity, and a future. If you’re struggling and you’re ready for real change, this is the place that can give you your life back. I’m forever grateful.

The great outweigh the frustrations.
The staff in the building are capable, competent, compassionate, patient, and truly wonderful! They helped me unlock so much in my recovery, and I left my 30 day treatment feeling like a truly new man. I feel like Im a version of myself that I didn’t know existed. I have such supreme admiration for the boots on the ground: Marguerite, Kelly, Sheets, and Jeff, to the case managers (shoutout Maggie), to the group leaders like Betty, Scott, Nick, Donald, Kevin, Rob, Ben, to the nursing and RSS staff, the cleaning staff, and kitchen staff. They all contributed in saving my life.
The frustrations stem from the negligence at the top levels of this company. There were several situations, and altercations that put the patients hygeine, safety, and ultimately, sobriety in jeopardy due to extreme budget cuts. The “interim ceo” peacocks around the hallways, and when directly adressed by patients with issues about patients concerns, he smugly passes the buck and ignores said issues. If it werent for these frustrations, this place could be the gold standard for recovery.
For these reasons, I give the staff a 9 out of 5, and the pencil pushers a resounding 0 out of 5.

By far the best place around. If your serious about your recovery, this is the place. It’s not just all about the medication, it’s about the staff as well. My counselor, Sharece T saved my life. She goes above and beyond the call of duty and treats people as an individual, not a group, because we’re all different. She really took the time to get to know me and get to the root of the problem and checks up regularly to see if everything’s going well. I’ve been to many places, doctors, meetings and rehabs. I had the best experience ever at Summit Overlook Labor and Delivery! All of the doctors and nurses were incredibly supportive, kind, and full of great advice. My baby was born on 10/27, and the entire experience was amazing. During delivery, the nurses were cheering me on, it was such an empowering moment surrounded by strong, encouraging women.
Later, when I had a tough evening with my newborn, the nurses were right there for me teaching me how to latch, showing me the 5 “S’s,” staying up with me as I rocked her to sleep, and even making me an ice pack. I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude and so pleased with how the entire team treated me. I can’t thank them enough!

You must be at least 10 years old to participate in their t | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I can honestly and sincerely say that the intensive outpatient program at High Focus legitimately changed my life.
The science-backed, evidence-based multi-faceted program has provided me with the tools & strategies I need in my day to day life to handle intense emotions as well as process trauma in healthy and adaptive ways through anger management, emotional regulation, DBT, CBT, grounding & mindfulness techniques.
Almost every day I find myself utilizing at least one of the techniques that I was taught at High Focus, whether that is Opposite Action, distress tolerance, STOP, boxed breathing, TIPP, HALT, cope ahead statements, etc. etc.
I have truly grown, changed, improved and bettered myself as a person. The anger, outbursts, explosions, toxicity and inability to properly regulate my emotions have been replaced by properly applying the core principles if what I learned in IOP.
Its not about never making mistakes. Its not about there never being steps backwards. Its about learning from the mistakes, not making the same ones and always talking the steps forward.
I am able to do that now thanks to everything I learned at High Focus and I want to sincerely thank all of the staff there for helping me to do that.
For anyone reading this, please know that it is 1000% possible for you to change your life TODAY. YOU have that power and YOU have that capability. Do not listen to what anyone else has to say -- YOU have the ability to CHANGE as a person. You just have to apply yourself. It's that simple and it's that hard.
If you're considering High Focus, I highly encourage you to make that change today. It honestly changed my life.

Bridgewater, New Jersey | Center for Discovery Bridgewater, located in Bridgewater, New Jersey is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. At Center for Discovery Bridgewater additional levels of care offered include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Center for Discovery in Bridgewater is truly one of a kind. From day one, I felt supported by a team that genuinely cares about every single patient’s recovery. Sofia, the program director, has created an environment that is incredibly recovery-focused, not just for one group, but for both adolescents and adults — which is no small feat. The space she and her team have cultivated is compassionate, empowering, and deeply intentional.
The staff here are some of the most empathetic, knowledgeable, and compassionate people I’ve ever met. They understand the complexities of recovery and know exactly when to gently push you, when to support you, and how to navigate even the toughest moments. Mealtimes, which can be overwhelming, were made lighter and more approachable because the staff took the time to connect with us — asking questions, starting conversations, and making sure we never felt alone. They always met us with presence and care, whether they were redirecting behaviors, running engaging and educational groups, or just being there when we needed someone.
One of the most powerful parts of my experience was realizing that every staff member — even those not directly on my treatment team — were invested in my recovery. That meant the world to me. I was lucky to have Annie and Lesley (and Sofia toward the end of my time), and they helped me realize that I am worthy of recovery. That I deserve to take up space. That my voice matters. Their belief in me came before I could believe in myself, and that made all the difference.
They celebrate your wins, but more importantly, they stand by you in your struggles. They make you feel safe, seen, and cared for, while still challenging you to grow and take steps forward. They’re with you every step of the way, and they do everything they can to help you build a strong foundation for life after treatment.
If you’re even thinking about getting help — if you’re questioning whether you’re “sick enough” — please consider reaching out to CFD Bridgewater. This place helped me change my life. And it can help you too

There are not enough good words to say about the staff and this program! Sofia (program director) has worked really hard to cultivate a healing and recovery focused space for both adults and adolescents (which is not an easy feat!). All of the staff are extremely empathetic, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They navigate the difficulties of recovery in the best way possible from providing support during meals/snacks to redirecting behaviors to leading educational therapeutic and dietary groups. All of the therapists and dietitians deeply care for the patients and work hard on cultivating a good therapeutic relationship so that the patient can achieve their goals. I am so lucky to have found CFD Bridgewater. The staff believed in me before I could believe in myself. They saw that I was worthy of recovery long before I could and worked tirelessly to help me see it. I can genuinely say that I would not be here today if it was not for my incredible treatment (Lesley and Kiersten) and the entire staff at this location. Even though Kayla and Sofia were never my therapists they were invested just as much in my recovery. Annie, although not my dietitian, still supported me and celebrated my wins alongside my therapist. They also strongly encourage involvement of your family/support system by having a family night and family session. They recognize that not everyone might have a supportive family but everyone does have a support system and want to work together with your support system to set you up for success post discharge.
If you are even contemplating about seeking treatment, if you have even the slightest question of if you're sick enough or if you have an eating disorder, I highly recommend CFD Bridgewater to help you on this journey. It will be the hardest thing you will do, but will end up being the most rewarding.

North Brunswick, New Jersey | Princeton House Behavioral Health in North Brunswick, New Jersey, is an outpatient facility that treats mental health issues, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. They are accredited by The Joint Commission. The clinic accepts Medicare, Tricare, and many other insurance companies. They offer a self-pay uninsured discount in accordance with | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I attended the DBT track at Princeton House to work through depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. The program gave me real tools to regulate my emotions and the language to understand what I was going through.
My therapist, Danielle, was incredible — compassionate, attentive, and honest in a way that helped me feel truly seen and supported. The group therapy format was also essential to my healing. The other clients made me feel safe and accepted, which created a space where I could open up without fear of judgment. The environment was respectful, and the women who run the program are strong, grounded, and deeply caring.
I also want to highlight the art therapist, Jenna. Every time I was placed in the art room, it felt like a moment of peace. She truly knows what she’s doing, and when other groups felt overwhelming, her sessions helped regulate my nervous system in a calming, supportive way.
I definitely recommend this program. My only critique is that it can be a bit disorganized with planners and materials. And a tip for future clients: it’s easy to care deeply for others in group, but don’t forget to put your healing first. You can’t support others if you’re still trying to stay afloat yourself.
Great program, life-changing support, and an incredible community.

I've been going to New bridge services about 5 years now my daughter goes some time for your family meetings they were very helpful oh they really like to listen to I'm not pushy or anything like that I like to place a lot I go to there for therapy sessions and they go there to see the psychiatrist so that works out well and if you wanted to they have a pharmacy right there so it's like One-Stop shopping which is pretty cool but in all all the people are nice there that I found even have switched in a therapist if you time to switch psychiatrist you know I've been going there a long time but even with the new new therapist in The noose a psychiatrist you know you have to work into it and you know that takes a little time but they seem to have a way of making it you know so you don't feel all that like you know that anxiety you know that the world is ending you know so that's a good thing and I think most of you know what I'm talkin about so all right place is great and can't say much more about it

Whitehouse Station, New Jersey | Anderson House, in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, is a 12 step focused drug and alcohol rehab for adult women. They offer dual diagnosis care, long term residential care, and transitional and aftercare support. Their primary treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery focused life skills training, and evidence based complementary care. An | Treatments Programs Payment Options | If I could rate this place a 0 I would . I’ve been working with Liz for almost a year for dealing with chronic illness . This company fired her and didn’t even give her a chance roll over her patients into a new counselor .
Just cut us off on a phone call
It’s unethical and dangerous to people who have severe mental disabilities . This can and will cause relapses in your patients .
This is a case of
corporations profit > people
and why the medical system is in the state it’s in .
I will not be continuing treatment at such an irresponsible money grab of a business and suggest all of the other patients do the same
This can and will happen again & is disgraceful with the amount of state money flowing through those doors . They should shut their doors if they refuse to serve their patients in an ethical manner .

IOP not worth the price, several hundred per session, no insurance, plus billed for all the labs too. They misrepresent the services they offer - no psychiatry. Also if you decide not to go any longer, you still pay full price as though you hadn't left ($2750 is the discounted price, down from 5 bands). You could go to unity instead, for FREE. I did like the people though sometimes.

Additional levels of care | Treatments Programs Payment Options | We have been clients of CAT for about 9 years. Our journey was so difficult to comprehend in the beginning but the staff at CAT are truly the best around. We had tried several places before this and once we landed here, we felt safe, comfortable and understood. The staff are amazing, kind and professional. You have options for in person or virtual sessions and they go above and beyond to accommodate your preference. We, as a family, would not be where we are, if it wasn’t for the fantastic team we had. My heart will always hold a special place for CAT!! I can’t recommend them enough! Even though our time has ended, we know we can always count on the valuable lessons we learned through this amazing amazing place!

Lawrenceville, New Jersey | GenPsych, located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including alcoholism, co-occurring mental health disorders, and opiate addiction. They offer supervised medical treatment to safely manage withdrawal symptoms during detoxification, as well as flexible | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went here after my local ER failed me and kept sending me home with alcohol poisoning / withdrawals. I can’t speak for everyone or every program, but I felt very cared for. I told them I needed a hot shower because I couldn’t regulate my body temp and the nurse had someone come and clean the shower for me. I had to sit on the FLOOR, of essentially a public shower I was so sick. But it still felt clean. The shower head was odd and too powerful, but again, available and CLEAN! I was properly cared for, and if you EVER need help, they’re in your room quickly. Medications are taken seriously and used appropriately and given regularly. I was woken up to take my meds, which is probably the only reason I woke up without pain or nausea. I spent very little time here, but it was very pleasant and the staff very caring. I haven’t even had a hangover post care at this facility, but if I ever struggled again, I’d admit myself here willingly. Staff makes the entire program worth it, and they’re (in my experience as of mid 2025) excellent :)

I’m deeply concerned about the St. John's Riverside Hospital’s treatment program for drug addicts operating near schools. Instead of helping the community, it appears to be worsening the situation and compromising neighborhood safety. There have been numerous incidents involving unstable individuals causing serious problems in the area. They need to end that type of program it’s not helping the community at all!
