I disagree with some of the critical/negative reviews of Dr.Khishchenko. I have been one of his patients since his days at unity health so I have been with him for sometime now. My condition is very rare, difficult to manage and one must be creative to treat. When he explains complicated information he will always ask do you understand? He wants to make sure you understand - if you say no he will explain so you do. He wants you to fully understand your condition and treatment. Someone said he is short and does not read your notes . I know this is not true 1st hand, I had an issue and he walked in with some vague details and listened to my explanation while reading over the notes he was sent. If there is conflicting information he will tell you and explore what it was. He is always thinking and seems to know what you are going to say before you say it. For example I said I started drinking caffeine is that he stopped me and said that's nothing to worry about . My perspective is he is great, knows his stuff and will not waste your time BUT the moment he hears something that a patient is struggling with emotionally he will do whatever it takes to help- he will not say just go see a counselor he legitimately cares about you. Keep in mind when you read reviews they are all about people's perspective. FYI I do not know the front staff people complain about but I have not had the pleasure but you need to be understanding the front desk as they do more than just checkin.

Review of Medical Practice for Chronic MigrainesA Patient's Experience Over 18 YearsI have been a patient at this medical practice for chronic migraines for the past 18 years, starting in 2007. Initially, I experienced approximately 15 migraine days per month. Throughout this period, I was prescribed dozens of medications by various doctors and assistants in the practice. Unfortunately, the results have been far from satisfactory; my migraines have escalated to almost daily occurrences. The practice does not have a doctor who specializes in headaches, which is crucial for effective migraine management. Additionally, the bedside manner of their doctors leaves much to be desired, and the unfriendly behavior of the staff is quite disturbing. If given the option, I would rate this practice zero for the subpar care and unprofessional conduct experienced during my long tenure as a patient.

Honestly I'd steer clear if you're thinking of seeing Dr.Khishchenko. Save your time, money and hopes. He was rude from the second I sat down with him. It was also clear he never even peeked at my chart/referral prior to sitting across from me. For a new patient appointment it lasted maybe 10 minutes, that includes him reviewing my current medications, my history and deciding to drastically change medications.I was never allowed to complete an entire sentence and everything i started to say was dismissed by him with an i dontcare or it doesn'tmatter. I've had chronic migraines for over 15yrs and was hopeful to get some relief. He only asked when they started and if they were related to my menstrualcycle. Never asked how often, where they were located, if I had auras, etc. He decided from those 2 questions he asked to take away the only 2 medications that somewhat help and change the medication I'm on for chronic appendicitis to 6 pillsdaily from 2 pillsdaily. When I expressed some concern with the sudden and drastic change I was dismissed and told that it was an ok dose for an adult and I could look it up in this medical textbook.Overall he was exceptionally arrogant and lacked all bedside manners. If you want a Doctor that will listen to you and your concerns I'd stay far, far away. I refuse to ever see him again. I do not and will not trust him with my health and care.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

How rude was the lady who picked up the phone to schedule my appointment she kept saying I don’t have a referral when i know I do I have a copy in my hand. Then she told me that I would need to see my primary care doctor first even though the referral came from the hospital as I have been hospitalized for five days Due to chronic migraines. I explained to her I did not know why I need to see a primary care physician first in order to schedule an appointment when the referral is coming from the hospital she just kept talking in circles and then disconnected the phone. I see that Dr. Dunn Wasn’t the only problem in this location after reading the reviews I will definitely be having my doctor refer me to a much better office. Thank you but no thank you They are very unprofessional and every way.

At this point I'm tired. I've had MS (Rrms) for 20 years. (Work out when I can) Im a mom to twins and wife I also still work (part time in health care). Blessed to be functional thankfully. Ive had dark days but they are mostly bright. I suffer from migraines. I mean like no one can seem to understand. My doctor just told me today I will be in pain the rest of my life. So why can't I have pain pills????? Lost confused and angry the nurses and other staff are fine but why does my body and head have to hurt and nothing is being done I've been trying all the meds my doct wants me to try and no relief it's pass sad and distasteful I was seeing a chiropractic but got told to stop I asked about acupuncture and was told that was pricey 😡

If I could would give them a zero. Also certainly don't recommend them to anyone. My dad and I arrived the secretary took the new patient papers. I went back to the desk she told me that they would not be able to see my dad because he lives in a nursing home. I asked her as to why they couldn't see him she stated that they are a private practice and they wouldn't get paid because of him being from a nursing home/facility. She was telling me that the nursing home has their own specialist that nursing home residents are to go to. I told her that they do not have their own specialist. She thought I was going to believe what she was telling. That wasn't going to happen. I'm very aware of things. I also know a lot about medical billing. I'm a Medical Insurance Biller. The other thing is that when billing the insurance company there's no place to indicate that the patient is from a nursing home or facility. On the claim to the insurance company there's only an area that they put the place of service. That wouldn't indicate that the patient is from a nursing home or facility. I especially didn't like when she kept saying that my dad was from a facility. I knew from the beginning that I was going to have problems with them. I knew that their was going to be issues because they are not with the U of R. Glad that my dad is going to be seen by any of the doctors there.

Dr. Khishchenko was recommended to me by my PCP whom I have a trusting, open dialogue with. I have been having migraines that have been causing me some issues for quite some time, and the medication that I was taking wasn't working. Dr. Khishchenko listened to my concerns, he did a full work up on me, and he's willing to use alternative methods other than medication. His bedside manor is warm, and he has a great sense of humor.
