Do not recommend. They don't know their own intake hours because it "depends on who happens to be in" even though certain hours are listed, they told me I have group therapy on Wednesdays then scheduled me for Friday mornings and no one would pick up the phone besides the front desk who couldn't help, the person emailing me said she had a whole convo with me that never happened about me coming in Friday mornings (I'll get fired if I miss work so no we didn't), (theyre checking now because oopsie they mixed me up with a whole other client), they're just a mess. As soon as I'm out of the ARD program (alcohol only) I'm leaving this place.

I am and will forever be so grateful to this place and its staff. I feel I’ve learned so much about myself and now have a good awareness of why I’ve felt the way I have my whole life, so irritable and disconnected from the world. Big thank you to all the staff, Tamara, Ms. Mayling, Bryant, Dwayne, Tim, Ms Keisha, Isabella, Patrick, The Dave’s, Ms.Q, Gus, Vince, Dawn, all have the interns, everybody there helped me more then they will ever know by teaching me how to get honest and open minded to a new way of life. Turning point as well as life in general is what you make of it, I’ve been fighting with drug addiction for 20yrs and could never understand why no matter how successful I would get on the outside I would always turn back to drugs in the end. I finally came to understand that for me it had to be addressed on the inside, I had to open up about everything I’ve ever been through whether I thought it was relevant or not to my addiction. I’m so grateful that I’ve finally surrendered to this process, learned how to accept my past, help, and that this is a life long process that is well worth the effort. If you are suffering from addiction please try and stay open minded, turning point is a great facility it you want to learn how to begin to change your life

I was so lost and giving up on life and a few good suggestions brought me here. Everyone from the friar in charge of the inn to security and maintenance made me feel welcome. The counselors are the best I’ve ever dealt with. My counselor was amazing, the physco therapist helped me realize things on my own and a former resident who is now staff related to my issues making me comfortable with the process. That guy was a godsend. These people helped me with my addiction issues more in 6 months then I’ve been able to do over the last 30 years. I now have hope and a blueprint that I follow to live a life in recovery. I could never thank them enough

This place completely saved my life, it taught me a new way to live and that I am a man, worthy of love and respect. Since there, in 2017, I had one slip up about a year after I graduated, but that was almost 8 years ago now. Since then, I went to welding school, they set me up in a halfway house in NYC, moved back home to Rochester, NY. I have worked in the welding industry and slowly worked my way to where now I run a million dollar welding training program and I try pass along the same message I learned there. You are a Man, or Woman, worthy of love and respect, with hard work and dedication you can have anything you set your mind to.

Straight & Narrow is not perfect, but neither is anyone. They have they're flaws and imperfections just like I do. If the place was absolutely perfect people would find something to complain about. It's just how it goes. I had a warm bed, hot food, and although the groups were limited, it was my choice to attend more than I was scheduled to go to. So that's what I did. People complained about group time and then complained about down time because they were bored.. I guess it's a journey that is decided individually. I opted to go to every group everyday and every opportunity I had I would volunteer for things to do to help. I was rarely bored and always looked forward to the weekdays rather than weekends because I liked the groups. They didn't keep me longer than originally discussed when I arrived as others were saying. But then again, maybe others didn't participate to their potential or maybe others didn't take the initiative to show their counselors what their intentions were. Some people want to get better and some people are court ordered to be there. The. Some, like me, were court ordered but wanted to get better. I completed a relapse prevention plan to present to my counselor and constantly asked her for more work books to better myself so she knew my intention was authentic. I guess I just felt that it was important for me to clarify my experience there because nobody pointed out anything positive, here's something. THE PLACE GAVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT AND IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO YOUR RECOVERY, YOUR DOOMED TO REPEAT HISTORY. The only shot we have is inside of us, the four walls doesn't mean a whole lot. it's your personal motivation.. Ask yourself what you want more and why. Thank you straight & narrow for the opportunity to take advantage of your program and I couldn't be more pleased with the majority of the staff. My counselor, Emily, was a super helpful person and important role in my early recovery. She challenged my answers, which I respect, and she also made me be accountable for my own recovery. She Cares, that's ultimately how I feel about her and I can't thank her enough. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants recovery and isn't worried more about the color of the paint or what mattress they have, that person probably doesn't want recovery to begin with....

I can’t speak for everyone’s experience but me?, this program has helped me a lot. They changed my counselor last yr. Mr. George. I can honestly say he’s the best substance abuse counselor. But overall if you apply yourself and you go when you’re supposed to this program WILL HELP YOU. They really work with you. Thanks to them and the director Mrs. Ford also is a down to earth, sweet, humanitarian person. She goes above and beyond to help you. They also have a center around the corner that helps with anything from food to showers to help with housing. And NO they don’t send you to a city shelter. These people really helped me from knocking on deaths door and getting my life together, and my apartment. All this in less than a yr. People please say no to opiates. This is destroying us. No matter the race. 💚🙏🏽

I felt compelled to write this review because of the wonderful care my 88 years old father has received. The respect, kindness and concern displayed by every one of the Doctors, nurses and personnel we have encountered is absolutely amazing. While they are too numerous to mention, I particularly wanted to give special gratitude to our home care nurse, Vinnie…my father just adores her and she is amazing. I also wanted to express my appreciation to Lorett, who tended to my father’s wounds yesterday. Lorett was incredible and so kind. Likewise were the doctor, Rachel and the staff in the emergency area. In closing, I want to state that this VA hospital and all associated medical providers and staff should be recognized for its/their high degree of standard, but more importantly for the compassion and respect displayed to our Veterans. Thank you and happy holidays.
